For every drama, there is a K-Drama that takes on similar concepts but explores them differently. Here are five of my recommended K-Dramas for your favorite films!
- If you liked The Notebook, watch Twenty-Five Twenty-One
-
The Notebook is a classic, and Twenty-Five Twenty-One is a new classic! The film focuses on a group of friends — highlighting a young fencing prodigy and an engineering student turned reporter — who have their dreams taken away from them due to the International Monetary Fund financial crisis. Despite the hardship, they vow to enjoy life together and take everything one day at a time. Through doing this, they learn to live again and experience their first love.
- If you liked Little Women (2019), watch Little Women (2022)
-
The Korean remake of the classic Little Women is an excellent, action-packed story about three sisters who live in poverty but dream of a better life. However, this all changes when a friend of the oldest sister leaves her an incredible sum of money. The only problem is that the money comes with a load of trouble attached, which the sisters must learn to navigate together.
- If you liked succession, watch Penthouse
-
Succession is one of the most acclaimed shows at the moment, and Penthouse was one of the most acclaimed K-Dramas of 2020 when it came out. It follows three mothers who care for their children in various ways, fighting to get them into a prestigious arts high school and resorting to blackmail to achieve their means. However, when a murder occurs at the school, it drives even more discord among the women who would do anything to put their kids on top.
- if you liked do revenge, watch perfect marriage revenge
-
Do Revenge was the teen movie about girls getting revenge for what had been done to their reputations. Perfect Marriage Revenge follows a woman who has done nothing but be kind her whole life but is then brutally murdered by her terrible stepmother and stepsister. She returns to life before the events of her demise and swears revenge on them all by marrying and allying herself with the man her stepsister covets, delivering a shocking tale of twists and vengeance.
- If you liked Lemonade Mouth, watch Twinkling WatermelonÂ
-
There’s never a better movie than when someone decides to form a band, and Twinkling Watermelon is just that movie. A child of deaf adults (CODA) travels back in time to learn what happened to his dad and is shocked to learn that he was once a musician. The child watches his parents fall in love and even helps his dad form a band to impress his mom. This heartwarming drama made me shed a few tears and will brighten your day!
