9 Amazing Events in Boston this Spring

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

It’s almost springtime, which means warmer weather and new events! Aside from sitting on the BU beach or Boston Common and basking in the sunlight, there are so many exciting things happening in the Boston area from March to May. Here are some of our favorites!

March 20: St. Patrick’s Day Parade

With thousands of Bostonians celebrating Boston’s Irish heritage, the South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade is one of the biggest events of the year. Beginning at 1pm at the Broadway Station, you won’t want to miss a day of fun. Remember to wear green! More information can be found here.

March 23-27: The Boston Underground Film Festival

Celebrating 18 years of existence, the BUFF is anticipating their greatest year yet. Taking place at the Brattle Theatre in Harvard Square, attendees will find themselves immersed in the word of alternative film and video. More information cane found here.

April 8: Comedy for a Cause

Boston’s own politicians, entertainers and media personalities will team up for an unforgettable charity event at the House of Blues! The evening will be filled with socially unacceptable satire and mediocre signing about pop-culture. By the end of the night, everyone in the room will most likely leave with sore ribs and teary eyes. More information can be found here.

April 18: The Boston Marathon

Watch the world’s oldest annual marathon and cheer on the 30,000+ participants as they conquer everything from the rural roads of Hopkinson to the metropolitan Copley square. The rich part about the Boston Marathon is bringing the whole city together. Learn more here.

April 29-May 8: ArtWeek

ArtWeek offers over 100 creative experiences, many of which are free! They are visually appealing and interactive. Some stations offer insight into artists and their own creative process, making ArtWeek a unique and memorable experience. More information can be found here.

April 30: Color Me Rad 5K

Taking place in Brockton, the Color Me Rad 5k promises that runners will be covered head to toe in “rad” colors such as pink, green and violet as they complete their race. The perfect way to spend time to spend spring afternoon, sign up for the 5k with friends and family! More information can be found here.

May 1: SoWa Open Market Returns

Starting on May 1st, the SoWa Open Market will be back on Harrison Ave every Sunday from 10am to 4pm. Here, you can find everything from delicious food trucks to local artisans, galleries and artist studios! The perfect Sunday morning adventure awaits. More information can be found here.

May 8: Short Play Festival

Featuring 50 short plays in 10 hours, the Boston Theatre Marathon highlights a variety of New England playwrights for a day of theatrical bliss. More information can be found here.

May 27-29: Boston Calling Music Fetival

With a killer lineup featuring Sia, Haim, Disclosure and Odesza, Boston Calling is the best way to spend your Memorial Day weekend. Located right in the city, this festival guarantees three days of fun, food and music! More information can be found here.

We hope that you are just as excited as we are for spring! Check out some of these events and see how you like them!
