Alexis Cole, a BU junior, is all about doing it for the kids. The Massachusetts native volunteers at Boston Children’s Hospital in the hematology, oncology, and bone marrow transplant units. That’s right, while you’re sleeping off last night’s party, Alexis is up bright and early on Sunday mornings helping the kids of our great city. Alexis doesn’t stop there. On May 24th, she will run in a half marathon to raise money for the Boston Children’s Hospital. According to her fundraising page, this superstar has raised 206% of her goal of raising $1,000 for the kids.
When Alexis isn’t busy being a saint, the pre-med student enjoys anything related to science, the outdoors, Boston sports teams, and has an extreme love of flannel.
On Alexis’ fundraising page, she writes, “with aspirations to work in pediatrics, I volunteer because I want patients and their families to have the best experience and care possible. While volunteering, I have met so many patients whose stories reflect courage and perseverance, who are just as upbeat and incredibly warmhearted.”
Alexis’ volunteering isn’t limited to the kids, however. She was also a volunteer at the 2015 Boston Marathon, handing out water to runners, was a committee member for the CSC’s Global Day of Service, and is a volunteer for Peer Health Mentors. Boys, start lining up now, this Mother Teresa is single. In her free time (how is that possible?!), Alexis enjoys going out with friends, eating pizza, and hitting the bars. If you want to be friends with the coolest girl on campus, break out your fanciest flannel and meet her on the dance floor. She has some pretty sick moves.
