Are Loafers the New Ballet Flats?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

When getting dressed to walk up and down Comm. Ave in the morning, shoes are a very important factor. One needs to pick a comfortable and durable pair of shoes that are also stylish, which will take one from dorm to classroom without any blisters. While typically this time of year, many rely on ballet flats as a simple and easy shoe to throw on, many more can be seen wearing loafers. This fall, loafers are taking over as the new ballet flat, and with the many styles out there, loafers are here to stay.

Cheetah, patent leather, velvet, you name it. This new style shoe, that may seem a bit outdated or old lady-esq for college students, is finally made in styles that add a feminine and young touch to any outfit. Loafers are great with jeans and a blazer for class, or with a pair of rolled up slacks with an oversized knit sweater to wear on fall weekends. Loafers give a bit more coverage on the foot, (even if it just an inch more,) and will help stall, until its time to take out the big guns, the winter boots. This season try a cheetah print loafer, (like the below Steve Madden ones) instead of a black ballet flat to instantly make your outfit more lively. You will surely be the coolest cat walking down comm. Ave!
