This year Boston Fashion Week came and went with a host of great events. From fashion shows to shopping events to art exhibits, all with varying prices of admission, Boston Fashion Week appealed to a variety of audiences interested in fashion. Dedicated to the late Marilyn Riseman, a Boston fashion legend and icon, designers and event producers were invited to keep a front seat open as a tribute to her “lifetime commitment to the art of fashion and her tireless support of [the] creative community.” Below are some student-friendly events that occurred during the week:

Sunday, October 5: Fashion & Freedom featuring Nomi Network and Ferro Cosmetics
Esther P. Chen Photography partnered with Nomi Network and Ferro Cosmetics to challenge participants to think of fashion photography in a different way. The goal was to look at fashion photography as a way to impact the world by elevating a more positive view of women. The idea of makeup and photography was to go below the surface and show the photography is more than image deep and makeup is more than superficiality.

Sunday, October 5: 2nd Annual Inside Discussion
This event was a panel that featured some of the fashion and entertainment industry’s most influential experts. They spoke about building a business in fashion entertainment in the context of Boston Fashion Week.

Monday, October 6: Monthly Boutique Event
This event occurs every first Monday of the month! Presented by the Social Butterfly, shoppers can experience shopping with a personal stylist. Refresh your wardrobe with this trendy boutique. Also, this experience is free (minus the charge of the wonderful fashion finds you’ll want to get)!

Monday, October 6: Copley Catwalk Series
Copley Place shopping mall hosted their annual back to back fashion shows featuring high end retailers and special student runway designs from local fashion design schools! All were welcome to pull up a seat, participate in some interactive activities and take photos.
Wednesday, October 8: St. Germain Boutique Fashion Presentation
This informal fashion show was all about furs, jewelry and accessories happening in the Copley Fairmont Boston.

Wednesday, October 8: Copley Catwalk Series
The fashion shows at Copley Place shopping mall struck again with more retailers and student designers highlighting their designs on the catwalk.

Wednesday, October 8: Science of Style: Designing Fashion with Tech Elements
Asking, “what can technology offer fashion?” and “what can we do to makes clothes that fit our lifestyle?,” this event showed attendees how technology and fashion have merged into the creation of Ministry of Supply, a local clothing brand. All attendees has the opportunity to interactively test the products firsthand, touch materials and prototypes, and get to know “Performance Professional.”

Wednesday, October 8: NotSoHollywood.com Fashion Show with Louie Bell LIVE!
Pairing fashion and nightlife, this fashion show curated by Danni & Gabbi Victor (The Victor Twins), brout their latest NotSoHollywood.com online boutique offerings to show off during a live music showcase.

Thursday, October 9: Élysées Boutique Fashion Show
This informal fashion show consisted of Holly Flitter’s collection of exotic skin handbags and jewelry by Andrea Marshall.

Thursday, October 9: Girl’s Night Out
Mall at Chestnut hill hosted a fun night out for women to “indulge” themselves in a fun and stylish atmosphere. Features included fashion and style consultants; beauty advice, tips and demos; spa services; fitness and nutrition stations; financial advice; food stations; and prizes and giveaways.

Saturday, October 11: FASHION 101: Teen Talk
This event catered to students, featuring professionals from various areas of the fashion industry who joined together to discuss their specialties and the paths that led them to success. The panelists were moderated by Jay Calderin, founder of Boston Fashion Week, and are listed below:

Presented by Shubrah Designs, this unique fashion how consisted of unique, eco friendly and eastern inspired cocktail dresses.

Saturday, October 11: Official Closing night Event
As the official closing night event of Boston Fashion Week 2014, this digital portrait exhibition/ cocktail party featured over 200 portraits of Boston fashion professionals (past and present) who have shaped Boston’s fashion industry.
