Winter can present us with many struggles. The wardrobe options are limited to outerwear, cross-campus walks slowly become unbearably cold, and it’s just extremely hard to pull yourself out from under the warm covers and peel your eyes from your Netflix binge.
Here’s a little motivation in the form of a To-Do list for some fun that winter actually allots us:
1. Free Art Classes, MFAÂ
Head to the Museum of Fine Arts on a chilly winter night to take advantage of the free admission and studio art classes on Wednesdays 6-9pm. Check the schedule to see if it’s a model or object sketching night. *All art materials are provided!
2. Tree Lighting, Quincy Market
Pull on your mittens and mufflers. Slip on your scarves and sweaters. Wear that parka! And make your way to Quincy to check out the enormous tree that is lit for the holiday season. Bring friends along and grab a hot chocolate while you’re in the area.
Check out the list of Holiday Events:Â http://www.faneuilhallmarketplace.com/pdfs/holiday2014.pdfÂ
3. Tree Lighting II, Boston Commons

If you haven’t had enough of the holiday spirit and big fancy bright trees, head over to the Commons with some friends and visit the glowing tree and holiday sights/festivities!
—-While you’re there, stop by the Frog Pond and skate away your finals stresses or celebrate winter break reunions on the ice. $14 gets you rented skates and admission. This is something you won’t want to miss this season!

4. Skating at BU, Walter Brown Arena

If you don’t feel like trekking to the Commons, stay on campus and hit up the Open Skating hours at the Walter Brown Arena (between Stuvi2 and Agganis). Admission is FREE and rental skates are just $5. Perfect way to liven up a Friday night. The rink is open 8-10pm.

5. BU Hockey Games, Agganis & Walter Brown Arenas
Got skating on the mind? Check out the BU Hockey teams’ schedules for a night of school spirit, BU pep band, our outstanding players, and best of all: FOOD. Get your game food on with friends (or just hang out at Canes afterwards)! The games make for an exciting night and gives you a chance to show your school pride.
6. Hot Tubbing, Fitness and Recreation Center (FitRec)

Did you know we have a hot tub? Did you also know it’s free and it’s in the pool area of FitRec? You’ve probably stopped reading this to throw on your swimsuit, but open swim hours are posted online at: http://www.bu.edu/fitrec/hours/

7. Skywalk, Prudential Center Conservatory
 Floor 51
If, and when, we ever get snow this season… find time to take a shopping spree at the “Pru.” Head to the 51st floor, aka the Conservatory, and get a look at Boston from above at all angles, while buildings and BU are snow-covered and blanketed in winter white.
8. Coolidge Corner Theatre (CCT), Brookline, MA
Coolidge Corner is a sweet spot for shopping and a center for incredible eateries (get brunch at The Paris Creperie! Their savory crepes are amazing.) But another feature of the Corner is the Coolidge Theatre, which plays some throwbacks that can be fun to catch during the winter, when a nice warm movie is all we can imagine getting ourselves up to do. As part of the theatre’s “After Midnite” program, entrepreneur Johnny Cupcakes is presenting and hosting a midnight screening of “Home Alone” on Saturday, December 13th! (Enjoy a holiday favorite and be the first to buy limited edition Johnny Cupcakes merchandise).Â
What do you say adventurers and Christmas Spirit enthusiasts?!Â
Don’t miss out on fun, wintry Boston events!Â
