With the stress of finals, you shouldn’t add more stress to your plate by worrying about where to study. Here are some great on-campus study spots.
1. For if you want a view:Â

Who doesn’t like looking up from their work and having a great view? Lucky for BU students, we have picturesque views of Boston all across our campus. Some of my favorite places to study with a view are the 6th floor of Mugar Memorial Library, the 26th floor of StuVi 2, the Yawkey Center for Student Services, the 9th floor of Kilachand, and the 8th floor of HoJo (575 Commonwealth Ave).
2. For if you want free coffee:

Coffee is an absolute necessity for finals season—and all seasons for that matter. If you don’t enjoy paying for coffee (who does though), some libraries on campus have free coffee. The Science and Engineering Library on 38 Cummington Mall has free coffee on the first floor. If you prefer another library, the Pickering Educational Resources Library in the basement of the School of Education also has free coffee. They also have a refilling water station, so that’s great too.
3. For if you want dead silence:Â

Some days we all need complete silence. Lucky for us, most study spots on campus are silent as everyone else just needs to concentrate on their study session for finals. Some silent libraries on campus are Mugar Memorial Library, Science and Engineering Library, and the Pickering Educational Resources Library.
4. For if you want some background noise:

Complete silence isn’t for everyone. If you would like some background noise when studying for finals, I’d recommend any on-campus Starbucks, so long as you could find a place to sit. If you want a more traditional study spot, the CAS Think Tank on the first floor of CAS is a great study spot and it has study rooms that are great for group studying.
5. For if you feel like camping out all day:Â

Sometimes you just have so much to do that the thought of leaving your study spot to get food is ludicrous. If you want to stay in the same spot all day, I’d recommend Marciano Dining Hall. If you get there early and get a booth with a charging outlet, you could essentially camp out there all day as there’s a bathroom, outlets, and food. If you want a more traditional library setting, I’d recommend Mugar Memorial Library because you could literally camp out there all day and night since it’s open 24 hours during finals season. Since it’s in the same building as the GSU, you could eat and get right back to the grind.
I hope this article expands your range of study spots and may even give you a new favorite spot to hang out in and “study” during finals season. Happy studying and good luck on finals!
