Chase Away the Winter Blues

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Is the cold weather and piles of snow getting you down? Are you sick of layering an endless amount of sweaters and jackets just to walk to class? While there are still a few months left until the relief of spring, there are some things you can do to alleviate those winter blues.

  1. Take advantage of every snowfall

Every time it snows is an opportunity to make a snowman or take an artsy picture on Bay State Road. Meet your friends on the esplanade for snow angels and a snowball fight and then grab some hot chocolate.

  1. Use the first few weeks of the semester to see all your friends

Because it is the first few weeks of class, most of your friends don’t have tests to study for yet, or big projects. Catching up about their winter break, or making plans for spring break, will make seeing all of your friends that much easier. Spend a few hours in the dining hall or go to a museum for the day.

  1. Read a book

One of my favorite winter activities is spending a lazy Sunday curled up with a book and a mug of tea. A quiet coffee shop can also do the trick. Choose a book that they’re adapting into a movie for spring so you’ll be caught up when it hits theaters!

  1. Go ice-skating

There’s something about going ice-skating while it’s still cold out that makes it even more magical. Whether you go to free skate at Walter Brown or Agganis, or make the trip to Frog Pond, you can’t wish away winter while you’re flying across the ice.

Winter will be over before you know it, but don’t let it get you down. Spring Break is just around the corner!
