This year, the animals are taking over fashion. Patterns from the classic cheetah print to shimmering fish scales can be seen on bags, bangles and beautifully crafted clothing. While sometimes our fashion picks are not always in our college budget, (like the many luxurious pieces shown above) it’s always fun to take inspiration from high end fashion designers and make it your own!

Animal prints have always been a classic pattern of many designers. In the past few years, more and more contemporary designers have reinvented ways to make leopard and snakeskin more appealing and stylish for young adults. Labels like Dries Van Noten recently designed a pair of sophisticated green snakeskin ankle boots (shown above). Incorporating a color into an animal print makes these boots official “statement shoes” where all you need is a pair of jeans and a T-shirt to go with them. They do all the talking themselves. Neon feather necklaces like the nOir one shown above transform a plain white T into a colorful and lively outfit for class. But don’t forget it’s not just about the skin, but also about the fur that keeps you warm! This season, the fur vest is the next blazer vest. It will keep you warm and make an outfit extra glamorous.  Lastly, designers like Rebecca Minkoff are making sure you and your phone stay warm and covered in colorful prints! Her yellow and black ‘Cheetah’ iPhone 4S case instantly styles up your phone, keeping it playful.

When looking for new items to add to your wardrobe, keep in mind these designer pieces, but improvise with what you see in the store and with your budget! Don’t just settle for the basic cheetah print dress, look for it in neon cheetah or go for the sequin fish scaled skirt, and be the brave one of the pack to wear those statement items!
