This Wednesday, April 17, Boston University’s newest sorority on campus, Kappa Alpha Theta, will be hosting its first philanthropy event. Katurday Night Live will be a comedy sketch competition in the style of Saturday Night Live, where students from other campus organizations will perform for a panel of judges.
“I am really excited for KNL,” said Lea Chilazi (CAS ’15), one of the emcees for the event. “We saw some of the skits today at the screening and it looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun!”
Besides a fun-filled evening open to all BU students, KNL is being held in support of CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocates), Kappa Alpha Theta’s signature philanthropy.
CASA works to advocate for neglected and abused children in the court system. CASA volunteers work with the children until they are placed in a safe and loving home. For many of these children, a CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence in their lives. The money raised at Wednesday night’s event will go towards training more advocates for the Boston CASA chapter.
Maggie Scenna (COM ’15), Theta’s Philanthropy and Service Director, has been working tirelessly on this project.
“We have been preparing all semester for KNL,” said Scenna. “We are really appreciative of all of the support that the Greek and BU communities have given us over the past few weeks and hope everyone has a great time on Wednesday.”
Go out and support Kappa Alpha Theta on Wednesday night – there will be a few surprises in store for all who attend! Tickets can be purchased here for $8.50.
