Living on Your Own: Expectations vs. Reality

You’re finally on your own, living with your friends in an apartment, no parents, no rules. But as fun as it can be, you soon find out that in some regards it sounds a lot better than it actually is. Keep reading for the most classic situations that turn out much differently than you imagined!

Ah, independence, finally

Expectation:

No Parents!!

Reality:

But now we have a landlord

Decorating is going to be soo fun

Expectation:

Everyone will be jealous of this Pinterest-inspired decor

Reality:

Much lazy. Not enough care.

Now that I have a kitchen I’m going to cook food for myself every day

Expectation:

Gonna get kale from Whole Foods cause I’m trendy

Reality:

Ah, screw it.

I can splurge a little on dessert and nooo one can stop me

 Expectation:

 Just one bite

Reality:

Can’t wait to room with my friends!!

BFFLS

Reality:

After hanging out 24/7 in an enclosed space

Cleaning will be a breeze, especially with no one nagging me to do it

Oh what fun

No, nope, nahhh

Paying for my rent and utilities, yeah I’m mature its fine
