Hi! My name is Maddie Keefer, and welcome to my makeup favorites for the month of September! This is the start of a new column in which I will share my favorite makeup products from each month and why I loved them so much. Before we dive into the favorites together, here is some context about me and my makeup preferences: I have super oily skin (like an egg could be fried on my forehead…), sensitive and acne-prone skin, and my skin tone is fair/light. Nonetheless, I love to wear fresh everyday makeup consisting of fun pops of color and shimmer. I do not wear a lot of makeup at one time, but I do love to experiment with different looks. Overall, I just love makeup and the freedom it provides to change up my look. With that being said, let’s get into my favorites for the month of September!
- Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Palette
-
My first favorite for the month of September is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Palette. I purchased this palette during the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty on a whim, but have not regretted the purchase since I received it! I love the light, shimmery shades that range from neutral/bronze to fun pastels, as the palette offers a range of diversity to build any look you want. Although the purples and pinks appear daunting, they really are quite wearable and do not look as circus-esque as I thought. If you like shimmery eye looks that can transform from super neutral to vibrant within one palette, I would definitely suggest picking this up!
- Nudestix Magnetic Luminous Eye Color
-
Next on my list of favorites is the Nudestix Magnetic Luminous Eye Color in the shade “Lilith.” The shade is described online as a “champagne cream with shimmer,” and it works nicely for an everyday highlight to the eye area. I use this product under my eye or in my waterline as an eyeliner, as it brightens the eye area and really highlights my brown eyes. I like to use this pencil with any eye look — no matter how cool- or warm-toned — or even if I am only wearing mascara. The pencil is easy to use, comes with a sharpener, and could not be a better addition to my collection. It brightens up my eyes and adds some dimension to my face that is otherwise covered with a mask 24/7.
- This Is Milky Gloss Lip Gloss
-
Although I did not get to use these much while wearing a mask on campus, I adored the new This Is Milky Gloss Lip Gloss in the shades “FO-MOO” and “Liliac Splash.” Similar to the ABH Norvina Palette, these two colors look scarier than they come off in real life. “FO-MOO” is a fun baby blue shade that actually reads clear on the lips, as the formula is very sheer and only provides a light, cool-toned wash to the lips. The same can be said for the shade “Liliac Splash,” as it does not deliver a full purple pigment to the lips, but more of an ethereal, pastel look. These glosses are not sticky; they are comfortable and silky to wear, and whenever I get the opportunity, I love to wear the glosses around the city of Boston to add some color to my makeup in a non-aggressive way.
- UOMA Beauty Double Take Contour Stick
-
For the month of September, I loved to use the UOMA Beauty Double Take Contour Stick in the shade “Fair Lady.” This product is a dual-ended stick that provides both a sheer golden highlight and a warm-toned bronzer. Personally, I love both sides of the stick and feel as though the $40 price tag was not too egregious as it is a two-in-one product that I get use out of. The bronzer is great for mask-wearing, as the creamy formula stays well on my oily skin and does not transfer onto the mask throughout the day or move whenever I touch the mask. On the other end, the highlighter is a wearable gold shade that I find easy to put on by itself or layered underneath other highlighters to get a really shiny and golden hour look. UOMA Beauty offers six diverse shades in this product, so if you are interested, I would definitely look into the product as there is sure to be a match for your skin tone.
- Colourpop Cosmetics
-
If I have to pick a favorite makeup brand, Colourpop Cosmetics would rank at one of the top stops on my list. This brand always releases the best one-and-done shadows that provide a unique color payoff and lots of shimmer. Their Super Shock Shadow in the shade “Ritz” is no exception to this pattern! What I love about this shadow is its dimension; although it may appear as a boring cool brown from far away, closer up the product has scattered silver and beige sparkles that bolster the intensity of the shadow to create the perfect cool-toned look in one swipe. When I say I love this shadow, I am not exaggerating at all, and I truly believe it is a great single shadow to add to your already existing collection or to start your journey with Colourpop Cosmetics with! However, the only downfall to the product is that it is no longer sold online by Ulta Beauty, so for this reason you would need to purchase it directly from the Colourpop Cosmetics website and pay for shipping. But if that is not a bother to you or your local Ulta happens to still have the shade, I would run (definitely not walk) and pick it up ASAP.
That is the official list for my top makeup products from September! I hope that you were able to either agree with my choices or find something that struck your interest.
since this will be an ongoing monthly roundup, be sure to check back at the end of October to see what I wore during spooky season to add some extra sparkle to my fall festivities!
