Movies You Should Watch This Month

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Spring is finally here and it couldn’t have come any faster. However, with spring comes April showers and impending finals. To avoid the rain and take a break from all the project meetings and finals studying, here is a list of great movies coming out (almost) every week to go watch:

1. A Quiet Place (1h 35m)

Out: 4/5

Directed by: John Krasinski

Starring: John Krasinski, Emily Blunt

Genre: Supernatural Thriller/Horror

Loglines: A family lives a quaint and relatively peaceful life in the woods. However, they must follow a single cardinal rule to survive: don’t make a sound, or they’ll come for you.

2. Truth or Dare (TBA)

Out: 4/13

Directed by: Jeff Wadlow

Starring: Lucy Hale, Tyler Posey

Genre: Supernatural Thriller/Horror

Loglines: An innocent game of truth or dare between friends during Halloween weekend takes a sinister and deadly turn. The game begins to have a life of its own, taking out anyone who isn’t willing to play by its rules. The friends must fight the clock to outsmart the game before they’re all victims of it.

3. I Feel Pretty (TBA)

Out: 4/20

Directed by: Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn

Starring: Amy Schumer, Emily Ratjakowski

Genre: Comedy

Loglines: Renee Barrett (Schumer) struggles with her insecurities and feelings of inadequacy just like anyone else. One day after a brutal fall she wakes up appearing the same but feeling as though she’s the most beautiful woman in the world. Her newfound confidence inspires her to try and do things she’s never done before.

4. Avengers: Infinity War (2h 36m)

Out: 4/27

Directed by: Anthony Russo and Joe Russo

Starring: Chris Evans, Chris Pratt, Chadwick Boseman

Genre: Superhero Action/Adventure

Loglines: Thanos, an infamous intergalactic despot, is on the hunt for all six Infinity Stones. Even alone they’re powerful and capable of tremendous damage, but together, the stones grant their bearer the ability to bend and manipulate reality. To defend their home and the universe as they know it the Avengers must team up with new and unlikely allies, including the Guardians of the Galaxy, to fight against their most powerful adversary yet.

Whether you love lighthearted comedies or big Marvel blockbusters, there’s a solid selection of movies to choose from this month. So close your books (but only for a few hours) and head to your nearest theatre for a nice little respite from all your end of year worries.
