New Year (Semester), New You

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Being back on campus after the winter break feels great and there is no better time then the present to start your year off right than by perfecting your personal style. Whether you choose to totally change the clothing you wear everyday or decide to just add that extra flare, the New Year is the perfect time. With spring colors popping up in all the stores, (especially neon!!) don’t be fooled that warm weather is here just yet (there are still plenty of months left to pack on those layers) but do get inspired to transform up your style.

A great plan for the New Year is minimalism, sticking to one statement trend in each outfit. While I am personally a fan of the more accessories and color the better, sometimes wearing one stand out piece can be just as effective. When out shopping, don’t just go for the plain mono-colored blazer but try a floral print blazer that goes great with denim and a white shirt. Next, when deciding among your pile of sweaters to wear find a space, either in layering or prints, to add in a pop of pastel. Pastel colors like mint green or baby blue will make those winter days seem so much sunnier. Other great ways to add a touch of flare to your style include metallic and gold jewelry for your arm and neck, cat eye sunglasses to make a fierce statement walking down Comm. Ave and a finishing touch of sparkly nail polish!
