Things You Do While Waiting For Spring Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

After working hard since the beginning of the semester, spring break is finally upon us! It may have seemed like it would never come, but now that it’s quickly approaching, here are some things you can do to prepare.

Bargain with yourself

In the end, it’s the best motivation. You can convince yourself to get so much more done when you have a reward in front of you. And if the idea that, “If I finish this assignment now, I’ll have more time over spring break,” doesn’t get you moving, I don’t know what will.

Mentally plan out your trip

When classes get too dry, and you just want to curl back up in your dorm, your mind wanders towards your upcoming trip (if you’re going on one). From planning places to go to who you want to see, much of your day is spent fantasizing about how great it’ll be once you’re finally on vacation.

Spend as much time as possible with your college friends…

The thought of being away from your friends for a week seems unbearable. When spring break is coming up, we find ourselves in the presence of our friends much more, enjoying what time we have with them before we’re separated over break.

…And get in contact with your friends from home ASAP

As spring break gets closer, the group chats start getting busier. Suddenly everyone’s coordinating schedules and trying to find the best time to get the old gang together. As much as you love your college friends, no one can replace the ones you grew up with!

Think about the food back home

It’s been a while since we’ve encountered anything other than dining hall food. Just the thought of our family’s cooking and our favorite food destinations back home is enough to get us counting down the days.

Start saving money

Let’s face it—between transportation home and inevitably going out with friends, spring break can get expensive. When break’s approaching, it’s time to get frugal. But hey, that just means more nights in with friends!

Study, study, study!

No one wants to think about it, but in order to get to spring break, we have to take our midterms first. The weeks leading up to spring break are usually filled with books, flashcards, and late-night study sessions. But in the end, it’ll all be worth it when we’re laying on the couch—or on the beach—basking in the glory of all the work we don’t have to do.

If college is stressing you out, hang in there—spring break’s almost here!
