It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The holiday season is upon us. Let us gather around the fire, drink hot cocoa, and participate in the thousands of holiday-themed festivities. It’s a great time to indulge in rich food and make great memories; but it’s also what many people call cuffing season.

What is cuffing season, you ask? To be honest, I don’t really know. According to Urban Dictionary, cuffing season is “during the Fall and Winter months, people who normally would rather be single or promiscuous find themselves, along with the rest of the world, desiring to be ‘cuffed’ or tied down by a serious relationship.”

So, cuffing season is the distinct time of year when people have a stronger desire to be in a relationship. It kind of makes sense to me. I mean, the colder weather creates a stronger urge to stay inside and makes cuddling sound more appealing.

This creates the mission to find said person to cuddle with. It also seems like the desire to be “cuffed” is just another way for individuals to say they don’t want to be alone.

Especially during the holiday months, there is an influx of cute holiday-themed activities. Also, it’s like there is a heightened sense of love and generosity in the air. But don’t think this solely applies to a significant other. You can enjoy the holiday season with whoever you want!

I get it! I really do. No one wants to be lonely; everyone wants some sort of love or attention because those things are great.

Whether you get cuffed or not, just remember there are other types of love in the world. Love from family, love from friends, or even doing activities you love are other forms of love.

Remember that you don’t have to search for people to love you because there are many people who already do! And don’t forget to love yourself first!
