What Your Netflix Show Says About You

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Grey’s Anatomy: Chances are you are pre-med or a science major, or maybe you just really love steamy doctor shows. You’ve got a soft spot for emotional hospital dramas and with every episode you watch, you imagine that McDreamy is your real-life boyfriend. You think that all doctors sneak away to the supply closet for a steamy sex scene. Truth is, doctors really don’t have that much free time during their ridiculous work day. But props to you for believing in love and buying into the emotional drama presented to you each episode.

Bob’s Burgers: You may not advertise your love for this show, but when you’re alone, it’s all laughs and cringes. You love stupid, sarcastic, silly humor— it makes you feel alive. You resonate with Tina Belcher’s admiration for boy’s butts and witty comments. Some days you feel like Bob, and other days you feel like Linda. Either way, you always want a burger by the end of the episode.

One Tree Hill: Yeah, you jumped on the bandwagon a few years late but you’re all about the hype surrounding OTH. You’re a sucker for teen dramas; every tear, every broken heart, every death— it all emotionally shatters you along with the characters affected by it. You want your future boyfriend to be like Nathan and you want to grow up to be like Brooke. You feel like you’re a part of the show, and if anyone dare criticizes it, you go into full-on attack mode.

Gossip Girl: Ok, let’s be honest — you wish you had Blair Waldorf’s personality, Serena van der Woodsen’s style, and Jenny Humphrey’s attitude. You live for power struggles and on/off relationships. We all want to marry Chuck Bass, kiss Nate Archibald, and cuddle with Dan Humphrey, and it devastates us that they are merely fictional characters. Any time you visit NYC, you run to the MET and sit on the steps to feel like Blair. You try on expensive dresses to feel like you’re part of the “elite.” And you so wish there was a real Gossip Girl, feeding you with attention.

Criminal Minds: Watching this show does not mean you are a serial killer… but you sure are fascinated by them. Sure, it may be a little scary a tad bit gory, but you can’t get enough of Aaron Hotchner’s sexy work ethic or Dr. Reid’s nerdy, genius-like behavior. You wish you were an FBI profiler… until you realize how dangerous their job really is. You swoon over Derek Morgan and fawn over JJ’s sexy husband (and his accent). Each episode is both sentimental and exciting and you live for the thrill.

The Office: You love dumb humor. Michael Scott is the worst boss ever if it were real life, but you love him to death on the show. His stupidity, Jim’s facial expressions, Dwight’s craziness, Toby as the scapegoat, and Stanley’s attitude get you. Aside from the silly jokes and pranks, there is the beautiful relationship between Jim and Pam that gets the emotional side of you out. We all cried at the wedding and when Michael left the show. And let’s be real, we’re all suckers for John Krasinski’s good looks.
