18 Reasons Why Your BFF is Also Your Soulmate

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bucknell chapter.

The great Carrie Bradshaw once said, “Maybe our girlfriends are our soulmates, and guys are just people to have fun with.” While we came into our freshman year of college expecting to meet new friends, try new things and make countless memories, the all nighters on the dance floor, the tears over boys and failed tests, and the rollercoaster that is college could not be more unexpected. Each surprise and shock that we faced forced us to turn to someone other than our mom or high school best friend when we realized they were no longer by our side at the end of orientation.  And with this realization, we ended up forming some of the closest bonds we will make throughout our lives: our college best friends.  Through our highest highs and lowest lows, these women have stood by our sides, held our hands, and wiped the mascara off of our faces.  They have reminded us countless times that we are better than that boy, made us laugh until our stomachs hurt and shared an extra large pizza with us when we’re just having one of those days. With every text, every hug, and every lunch date, our girlfriends are the ones who continually remind us of who we are, what we’re capable of, and why we’re so lucky to have them. Here’s just a few reasons why we agree that our girlfriends are our soulmates:

1.     When you met, you knew that your best friendship was going to last forever

2.     And you have a secret handshake to prove it3.     They give the best life advice that no significant other could 4.     And they don’t hesitate to have deep late-night conversations with you 5.     They embrace your horrible dance moves

6.     They get you popcorn at Townie

7.     And they still sing karaoke with you on Thursdays8.     They stop you from ordering that second Domino’s pizza 9.     They convince you to order that second Domino’s pizza10.  They share your thoughts on pregames, birthday parties, and other events 11.  They cuddle with you on Sunday mornings

12.  They tell the truth when you’ve got a crazy idea 13.  But they’re always down to support your craziness  14.  They give you the right advice about your significant other drama 15.  And they give you space (or wine) when you’re having a rough day16.  They get that you should always put yourself first 17.  They’ll love you despite that fight you got in last week…

18.  Because they’ll love and believe in you no matter what.
