Halloween doesn’t always have to be scary. What better way to get into the Halloween spirit than with some of our favorite, classic Halloween moments in T.V.? Sure, you can conform to scary Halloween standards and delve into the gory, horror movies that leave you scared to leave the house on Halloween night. Instead, why not grab a bowl of candy, some friends, and a nice blanket and laugh your brains out to some of the best Halloween moments in sitcom? Something about Halloween T.V. specials make them better than any others; they don’t have the sappy, emotional moments of the Thanksgiving episodes, or the classic, “I can’t find a date” mentality of Valentine’s Day specials. Instead, they take some of our favorite T.V. characters and spruce up their mundane lifestyles with hysterical, witty (or not) Halloween costumes and drama. Check out our favorite episodes to watch this week to really get into the trick-or-treat, happy spirit.
1. The Office “Halloween”
Despite the un-fun task of having to fire someone, Michael tries to keep the office fun and in the Halloween spirit. With Michael as a double-headed Michael, Dwight as a vampire, and Jim as a 3-hole punch, it’s not an episode you want to miss out on this season. Just listen to Dwight and watch the show.
2. Friends “The One With the Halloween Party”
No surprise that Friends snuck its way onto the list. The plot line, not shockingly, follows a classic mix-up between the friends. The best part of the episode is the costumes; Chandler as a bunny, Phoebe as Superman, and OF COURSE Ross as the infamous Spud-Nick (mixture between Spudnick and a potato – there ya go, Ross).
3. Freaks and Geeks “Trick or Treat”
Another episode where teen Lindsay goes off to do bad things with her new friends and her younger brother Sam and his friends somehow get made of fun of. Lindsay goes out for a night of debauchery while Sam and friends avoid mature conformities to go trick-or-treating “one last time.” Basically the usual plot line plus some hysterical costumes.
4. Modern Family “Happy Halloween”
An attempted scary Haunted House in the Dunphy household, you’ve got Haley’s revealing costume, and Mitch stuck in his office in a Spiderman costume and having to scale down the side of his building. That’s all that needs to be said.
5. How I Met Your Mother “Slutty Pumpkin”
Ahh, of course, the introduction of the mysterious “slutty pumpkin” character and the beginning of Ted’s arguably stalkerish, obsession with her. All HIMYM fans will get the feels while watching this epic episode throwback. Also, learn some major Halloween party do’s and don’ts.
7. Parks and Rec “Greg Pikitis”
Leslie faces off with an old, childhood arch nemesis while Ann throws the most boring Halloween party of all time. Plus, Louis C.K. guest stars.
8. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!
OK, so not an episode of a sitcom, but Halloween isn’t complete without this T.V. classic.
Happy Halloween and binge t.v. watching!
