It seems that Bucknell is taking tech-savvy to a whole new level! Most college students would agree that social media is an essential part of our lives. We check the final score of the NFL game, see what ice cream our favorite celebrity is eating and now the latest happenings at Bucknell. Here are just a few of the many Bucknell social media accounts that you should be checking out …
Facebook
Bucknell U – This Facebook page posts about the latest news at Bucknell. It also tends to “like” student posts about the University. With over 11,000 likes to date this page is reaching a vast amount of current students, alums and potential new students. I think most students would agree that this page is an effective way to use our favorite form of social media to reach out.
@BucknellU – Similar to the Bucknell Facebook page, this twitter account reports on everything Bucknell! It is the first place I find the latest news; I mean how else would I have known Avicii was cancelled? Well okay I probably would have heard later in the day, but still! Although this social media account has 6,500 followers, it is rapidly growing and will hopefully become a larger more utilized social media outlet!
@BucknellCareer – Bucknell has recently created several twitter handles for different departments. The Career Development Center is a very active account that constantly posts about the latest professional advice, job/internship deadlines and retweeting alums exciting job news. This twitter handle is a staple for any senior currently trying to make their way through the maze that is job hunting.
@BisonAthletics – This handle, like the two before it, is another quick and useful way to check out the latest Bison scores. When the football team is away there is no faster way to see the final score! Continuous tweets keep me in the know even when I cannot be on the sidelines in orange and blue cheering on my fellow bison!
PinterestIf you are a Pinterest junkie you will definitely want to check out the Bucknell University pinterest page. It has photos of the latest events on campus as well as some cute and funny pins. Check it out and be sure to repin your favorites!
iBucknell
Okay if you are not big on checking your Facebook or Twitter page you will want to get the iBucknell application for your iPhone or Android. It includes Bucknell news, campus map, academic information, contacts, dining menus, courses and photos. So if you are wondering what is at Bravisimo for lunch but don’t want to spend the $10 for lunch before knowing, check out the iBucknell app; you won’t be sorry!
B-Link
This social media program was created specifically for Bucknellians. It has an alumni directory, calendar of events, business directory, professional networks, classes & clubs and a way to donate money to Bucknell. This program is especially useful for seniors looking to connect with alumni to find jobs after graduation!
Not official Bucknell social media accounts but our favorites none the less
@bgirlproblems – Okay if you aren’t already following this twitter handle you better start! Every time I see a tweet I cannot help but laugh and think “Wow … that is so true”. Although this isn’t an official Bucknell social media account, it is pretty hilarious and should be added to the list of twitter accounts you already follow.
@Awkwardbucknell – C’mon who can resist reading about ALL the awkward moments we encounter at Bucknell? From crazy squirrels to online shopping in the library, or my personal favorite, “Going to class with glitter still everywhere,” these tweets describe Bucknell life perfectly.
What is your favorite social media outlet that Bucknell uses? Do you have any suggestions for ways the University should use social media to reach you?
