This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bucknell chapter.
Senior Lauren Rambo is a busy Bucknellian these days. As President of ACE, she is the brains behind all our campus events. From working closely with committee chairs to heading executive meetings, Lauren has helped make ACE the incredibly successful organization it is today.
How did you become involved with ACE?
I started with ACE my second semester freshman year. That first semester I wasn’t involved in much on campus and while I enjoyed my first semester, I knew Bucknell could be a better experience for me. I joined ACE after attending some of the events at 7th Street, Uptown, and BU After Dark. It was a great decision, and I became very involved very quickly. I was a committee chair for Late Night my sophomore year and a VP when I came back from studying abroad last year. ACE has been a big part of my experience as a student!
What do your responsibilities entail?
Most of my responsibilities are dealing with things as they come up and seeing that everyone is doing okay. I run the general members meeting and exec meetings every week, and I work very closely with our adviser on how to make ACE a stronger organization.
What is your favorite part about your position?
My favorite part has been seeing the committee chairs succeed at their events. I know how much goes in to getting people to attend an event, so I love seeing the pride of the chairs when it all goes well!
Have you had any memorable experiences as a member of ACE?
One of my most memorable experiences was attending a regional conference for campus activities programming (NACA) second semester sophomore year. I went to Boston with three other members of the exec board and one of our advisers. One of those students was our president last year! We had a weekend filled with watching and rating performers to bring to campus, and we spent a lot of time bonding with each other.
What are your post-grad plans?
Right now I am in the process of looking at applying to universities as an admissions counselor. There are a few other opportunities that would be more on the psychology side of my education. I do not have any set plans as of now, but hopefully I will soon!
Do you have any advice for underclassmen?
Don’t be afraid to get involved in organizations and to take initiative, because leadership roles are great opportunities. Also, it is okay to say no to avoid being too involved and too stressed! That was definitely something I learned the hard way.
