Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and here at Bucknell, that’s not the only romance that’s starting to brew.
It has been recently drawn to my attention that there is a new resource for dating on our campus: Bison Matchmaking. It’s similar to a dating app like Tinder or Bumble, but instead it’s run by fellow students who will match you with a potential lover. It appears to the individual as a Google Form and is the newest way for my fellow peers to find a Valentine (or maybe something that will last longer…). However, it’s not the first time this has been attempted.
A few years ago when I joined the campus community, there was lots of talk about a student run dating group. Its name was Bucknell Matchmaking. Being a first-year that really didn’t know many people on campus, I decided against filling out the form, but I wasn’t completely oblivious to what it entailed. Students would enter their responses to dozens of questions, in hopes to have a fun filled experience. It had to work for some people, but unfortunately, it fizzled out shortly afterwards.
Now, it’s back! With a lot less questions to fill out, the new Bison Matchmaking may have some real potential. I recently opened the form to scope it out for you, and I must say, I was pretty impressed. It asks you all the right questions while not asking you for page-after-page of information. Do you have a red flag? Tell them. What is your ideal date? Your love language? They cover all the basics.
So, what will you choose to do this year on Valentine’s Day? If you want a date, then Bison Matchmaking has you covered.
