The exceptionally nice weather in Lewisburg recently has brought students from their rooms to the outdoors to soak in the sun around campus. With midterms and mid-semester burnout causing students more stress than usual, I walked around the Malesardi Quadrangle to ask students what their highlights of this semester have been so far. With the sunny day putting everyone in a good mood, I hoped this question would allow people to look back on the positive experiences they had this semester despite the ongoing presence of COVID-19. Below are their responses:
Miranda Segrave ‘23: “Enjoying the warm weather and sitting on the quad with my best friends”
Ben Carcieri ‘23: “Going sledding”
Emily Sullivan ‘22: “I’ve done a lot of activities around campus like virtual bingo.”
Hannah Holmes ‘23: “It’s been interesting going from being online to being back in person.”
Calista Noll ‘23: “Polar plunging in the Susquehanna River”
Bobby Subak ‘21: “Hammocking outside with friends”
Sabrina Fein ‘23: “Seeing my friends again after two months and honestly, being able to sit on the quad again with my wonderful friends”
Kaitlin Bonacci ‘21: “The warm weather and sitting on the quad with my friends”
Tyler Behrle ‘23: “The rock wall opening again”
Kevin Eifert ‘21: “Watching the sunset from the farm”
Karly Bullock ‘23: “Taco Tuesday on the quad”
Will Carcieri ‘23: “Playing in the snow”
It felt rewarding to see the look on students’ faces when they remembered a highlight of their semester. For some people, it took them a minute of thinking to determine their highlight and it seemed as if many people hadn’t actually thought about the positive parts of the semester so far prior to my asking. I hope that this article reminds you to think about what your own highlights of the semester have been so far! Life is too precious to not appreciate the little things.
