If you still have the fever for Spring Fashion Week, look no further than the Bucknell Bubble! Each year, the Culture Couture group plans a spring fashion show to highlight the hard work of aspiring Bucknell designers. The show will take place on April 28th in the Smith Quad. In exchange for last year’s fairy tale theme, this year’s show will showcase Landmarks Around the World.
When describing the tone for this year’s show, Culture Couture President Bithy Goodman says: “Last years show was very whimsical, but this year will be much more architecture and texture based. There will be a lot of draping, a lot of geometrical shapes, and a lot of different textures on the designs.”
Some of the landmarks that are going to be highlighted include: The Statue of Liberty, the Austrailian Opera House, Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado, Las Ventas in Spain, Stonehenge in the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, and our very own Lewisburg. The designers receive $50 dollars to produce their designs inspired by the locations. They work throughout the semester to design, sew, fit, and perfect their clothing.  One of the designers plans on using tea bags and sand to stain the lace she will use to create her fashion.Â
Although it is too late to get involved as a designer, models are needed. Thursday, March 8th at 5:30 pm will be the annual model call in McDonnell Ski Lounge. “Any height, any size, no prior experience: everyone should come try out,” encourages Goodman. “Tell all of your friends!” And of course, tell all of your friends to come out on Saturday, April 28th to support these creative minds.
