Summer Bucket List

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bucknell chapter.

To help motivate you during this stressful finals season, Her Campus Bucknell has compiled a bucket list for the summer! Yes, hibernating is a great idea but don’t waste all of your summer days hiding underneath your covers. Let’s get moving!

1. Buy a treat from an ice cream truck

No summer is complete without running out to the ice cream truck. We know you want to, so indulge! When you hear that music playing in the distance, track down that truck!

2. Have a picnic/barbeque

What a seriously underrated activity. Gather up a bunch of friends and head off to a nearby campsite – you’ll be with good people, you’ll grill up some good food – needless to say, it’ll be a good time.

3. Skinny Dipping

Be bold, my friends. Besides, who doesn’t love to swim?

4. Redecorate your room!

Open up the bible of DIYs (Pinterest) and re-design your room and then re-re-design it!

5. Go to a music event (concert, festival, musical)

Everybody loves some dancing and music. It’s a feel good time, and what better way to celebrate the summer days than with some dancing and awesome music?

6. Force yourself to disconnect

Okay, so you might feel like this is impossible but try to keep yourself offline and see what you else you can do with your time. Go explore the outside and make time to see your friends, read, travel, hike, etc.

7. Try an exotic food

This does not include Mexican (Chipotle ain’t exotic, kids). Excite your taste buds with a new, exciting, cuisine – anything COMPLETELY out of your comfort zone!

8. Drive-in Movie

Deep, perhaps buried, in my soul, lives a very old-school romantic who thinks a drive-in movie is one of the most adorable activities known to mankind. Go drag your boyfriend, sister, brother, and/or friend to have a nice, old-school night.

9. Volunteer

Taking one from our “Alternative Spring Break” list. When you have lots of time, why not donate some of it to someone in need?

10. Learn Something

It can be anything from how to pop n’ lock to fishing. Exercise that brain!

11. Travel

Make an impromptu travel plan with your friends! Don’t limit yourselves to big cities, or even the United States for that matter! Go venture out!

12. Overcome a fear

Fear of heights? Go bungee jumping or ride a rollercoaster!

13. Write snail mail

Old school style. You’d be surprised how creative you can get and how much fun you might have with hand-written letters!

14. Work out every day

Just kidding. Do try to be active in the sunshine though, even if only for an hour a day.

15. Watch a whole entire TV series

Not like this wasn’t on your list already.

16. Start a blog/project that you have always wanted to!

Always wanted to create a blog but never had the time to? Now you do! Get started.

17. Bake

…and share with the Her Campus staff!

18. Disney Movie Marathon

Who doesn’t love some classics and modern favorites like Monsters Inc.?

19. Get ahead for classes!

Kidding again. If you’re going to read, read something for pleasure.

20. Read Her Campus Bucknell daily

;)

Sarah Dubow graduated from school in 2013 and is a Digital Strategist at Marina Maher Communications in New York City. After serving as Campus Correspondent at Bucknell University, she is so excited to continue being a part of the Her Campus team! Besides traversing the city and trying to figure out what being a "real person" really means, Sarah loves long walks on the beach, sipping pina coladas, and getting caught in the rain (kidding!). Real favorites include traveling, writing, kickboxing, and making up ridiculous lyrics to the latest songs. She absolutely loves anything that involves cupcakes, butterflies, glitter, and anything Parisian and specializes in baking with far too much chocolate and obsessively watching shows bound to be cancelled after the first season. Though the long term path for this post-grad collegiette remains unclear, she's looking forward to all the new 20-something adventures that await her!  Â
