Deadpool is Marvel’s latest hero flick, and it’s rated R for a reason, folks. Deadpool is a trash-talking, sword-wielding antihero who likes chimichangas – and audiences love him. And why do we love him? Because he’s so gosh-darn relatable. Deadpool isn’t any ordinary superhero; he doesn’t wear a cape, he doesn’t rescue kittens from trees, and he tends to serve up his own, personal brand of justice. The result? Hilarity. Debauchery and hilarity. Remind you of anyone?

Who else gets into devilish antics? Who else likes to have a little fun? Who else likes deep-fried Mexican food at ungodly hours?

That’s right. College students.

AKA, you.

1.) Deadpool doesn’t like rules.

Let’s be honest: neither do you. You like staying up late, you like partying, you like messing around with your friends. Like, hey, if they say no texting in class, and you sneak an iMessage to your mom about dinner…well, wow.

You. Rebel.

2.) He’d rather doodle than do homework.

We all do it. Sometimes, it’s a unicorn – other times, it’s that fancy “S” everyone drew in middle school. Deadpool does it, you do it – just, maybe don’t do it on a bridge, on a freeway. That might be illegal.

3.) Deadpool loves Mexican food.

And who doesn’t? Everyone knows it tastes best at 3AM.

4.) He has a nice vocabulary.

Just like you, Deadpool is eager to show off all the words he learned in his college English class. Who knew SAT words could be so fun?

5.) He’s a little socially awkward.

So are you after a three-day Netflix binge.

6.) He’s kind of cranky.

He has his reasons. So do you. Especially when professors assign a three-hundred page reading. You don’t want to do homework, write papers, do research – heck no. You want Netflix, a nap, a cup of coffee, and maybe a good book. Okay – maybe not the book after the three-hundred page reading on Freud.

The thing is – who couldn’t love Deadpool? He understands the struggles of being in college, he understands life. We’re not saying you should go out and become a vigilante to handle it – but, hey, we are saying you should be confident and happy. So, take a page from this Marvel legend’s book and learn to laugh at life: take it easy, take time to enjoy the little things, maybe even be a hero to somebody else.Â
