It’s finally here, after weeks and weeks of predicting who Arie would choose to propose to, we finally get to know who it was he decided to spend the rest of his life with, Becca or Lauren? Or both…? This week has been one of the most controversial weeks in the Bachelor franchise history.
On Monday night we witnessed Arie propose to the woman of his dreams and on Tuesday, we watched Arie propose to the woman of his dreams. But, let’s rewind a little bit first.
On Monday’s episode of The Bachelor we watched Becca and Lauren meet Arie’s family. As the dates progressed, it seemed as if Arie’s family liked Becca a bit more than Lauren because they felt as if Becca was the better choice for Arie’s future. AKA…she’s the safer route and was everything he needed, whereas Lauren would need a bit more reassurance and more work would need to be put into their relationship. Arie’s parents talked up Becca and how much they liked her, reassuring Arie that they liked both of the women, but Becca was the better choice.
As the episode continued we watched Lauren step out of her car and walk towards the man of her dreams holding what she thought would be the final rose and the ring of her dreams. As Lauren confessed her love for Arie, a sad, uncomfortable look came across Arie’s face. He then went on to tell Lauren he loved her but just didn’t see them together in the future. Lauren left him saying “why did you do that?” as she stepped into the car and began to sob.
Next out of the car was Becca, who also believed she was walking towards the man of her dreams, who she would spend the rest of her life with. And, well, she was kind of right? Arie did propose to Becca, confessing his love for her and how it was finally just the two of them and how he “would choose her every day,” and the couple walked off to the rest of their lives.
On Tuesday’s episode, we watched the raw, unedited footage of Arie breaking up with his fiancé of one month, Becca, to pursue a relationship with Lauren, whom he left broken-hearted in Peru. Arie admitted to Becca that he still had feelings for Lauren and the two of them tried to work through it together. Arie asked Becca if he could message Lauren to talk to her, which he did. Their conversation ended up revealing that if Arie left Becca for Lauren, she would take him back. So, Arie did just that. He broke up with Becca and flew to Virginia Beach to win Lauren back, which he also did, leaving Becca heartbroken.
On the After the Final Rose episode, Arie and Becca come face to face for the first time since the tearful breakup, in order for Becca to receive the closure she needed. Later on in the episode, Lauren and Arie are next up in the hot seat, answering every question Chris Harrison had for the pair. After Chris Harrison finished firing questions at the two, Arie got down on one knee, once again, and this time proposed to Lauren, the woman of his dreams, who delightfully agreed to marry the indecisive bachelor.
The episode ended with the announcement of the next bachelorette, which is…Becca! Throughout the week Arie went on to justify his reasoning for publicly breaking up with Becca, one of those reasons being so that she could become the next bachelorette, which worked out seemingly well for the two. I mean, I couldn’t possibly think of a better way to get over someone than by dating thirty new guys, right?
Becca’s upcoming season of The Bachelorette, is scheduled to premiere in May of 2018.
