HAPPY SPOOKTOBER!

Whether you celebrate with friends, significant others, or family, it is the season to get spooky! When I think of the Fall season and Halloween, I think of all the great nights spent cuddled up on the couch with those that mean the most to me. I think of horror movies, childhood classics, and the cute movies we got to watch in class as a treat around Halloween time!

Here’s a list of the top 6 Fall movies to watch with those you love, without having to leave your couch:

“It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”

I’m 20 years old and this movie is still my favorite. You can’t get into the Halloween spirit without some Charlie Brown in your life! Plus, what animal is cuter than Snoopy?

“Nightmare on Elm Street”

This is for my horror film people out there who love a good scare. A 1984 classic with Johnny Depp, this is a movie I watch with my mom on those long, chilly fall Saturdays. This movie is about the spirit of a dead Janitor who haunts the dreams of children. But, they’re not just any children. They’re the children of the adults who were responsible for his death.

“Halloweentown”

Disney’s Halloween movies are the best. This 1998 film is a staple of many of our childhoods. Witches, goblins, and skeletons will throw you back to your childhood days spent watching this cute movie with your siblings.

“Remember the Titans”

If you’re not into Fall or Halloween, I have a great movie for you! Nothing screams Fall like football season. This is a great 2000 movie with Denzel Washington that will open your mind to racism and those who are allies. This is a feel good movie for those of any age!

“Halloween”

Nothing gets you ready for Halloween like a movie with the holiday as the title. This 1978 classic puts the chills in the holiday. Halloween focuses on the serial killer Michael Myers on his slasher fest of teenage babysitters on Halloween night.

“Carrie”

If you’re looking for true horror, a movie based on a Stephen King novel will give you that. This 1976 classic is the first movie created from King’s novels. Carrie follows a misfit through her high school struggles as she discovers her powers of telekinesis which she uses to get revenge on those who bullied her.

Happy Fall and Happy Halloween!

My name is Cassie Malhado and I’m a sophomore at Central Michigan University. Raised in the small town of Imlay City, coming to university has allowed me to expand my comfort zone. Currently, I am studying Journalism: Public Relations Concentration with a minor in Applied Business Communication to do public relations work for a non-profit or corporation after graduation. On campus I am a member of the Honors Program, am a public relations executive for Central Michigan Life, run the social media and belong to the editorial board for the academic journal The Honors Platform, and am a sister of the Delta Zeta chapter of Alpha Chi Omega. I am excited to add events planner for Her Campus on my list of involvements as well! My passions include politics, traveling, and rollerblading with Her Campus Editor-in-Chief, Kara, which I cannot wait to write more about.
