Whether it’s a casual walk in the park, or a premiere of a movie, we always see photos of celebrities looking their best in designer clothes. Personally, I wish I could afford to buy the clothes I see celebs wearing, but seeing as how I am on a college student’s budget, I predict that won’t be happening anytime soon. I like to keep up with the latest fashion trends, and by doing that, it’s important for me to do so while staying within my budget. Money is a big concern for college kids everywhere. Below are a five great ways for anyone to be fashion forward by not breaking the bank.
1.Don’t forget about staple items
A crucial part of every girl’s wardrobe should be those staple pieces that can be worn a thousand different ways. Start by making sure a plain white tee, blue skinny jeans and a statement necklace are essentials in your closet. With just those three pieces, you have the perfect outfit for a casual day out on the town.
2.Clothes Swap
Get a group of your best girlfriends together and do a clothes exchange! What a better way to get rid of that one piece of clothing you don’t really wear, than doing so by swapping it with something you have been dying to borrow from one of your friends. This is a great way to change a few things in your wardrobe by spending no money at all. It could be a great way to get together with friends and add some spice to that closet of yours.
3.Thrift Store Remix
Thrift shopping is a great way to find in-season things for a less expensive price. However, sometimes you go find a great piece that you wish you could change up a little. Well, this is a perfect way to experiment with your style and add your own flavor to it. You could spice up a simple blouse by adding lace to it, or putting studs around the collar. The sky is the limit!
4.Consigning your clothes
Consignment shops have become pretty popular in the last few years. This is a great way to sell your clothes that don’t get much use for money! With that, you can use the money from your old clothes to purchase newer, trendier pieces.
5.Accessorize!
We all have those pieces in our wardrobe that we love wearing, but sometimes it can feel a bit been there, done that. Well, accessories are a key part of making or breaking an outfit. A statement bag or bright heels can totally the change the appearance of an outfit. Experiment a little by adding different accessories to each outfit by layering necklaces, adding a scarf or even changing up your hairstyle.
Hopefully each of these tips will help you stay trendy by staying in within your budget. Fashion doesn’t have to be determined by the amount in your bank account, so don’t let that scare you away!
