I am writing and publishing this only with the hopes that my close friends and family aren’t too in tune with what I’ve been up to lately, and don’t click on this article. If you do happen to be reading this and you fall under one of these categories – TURN BACK NOW!
Secret Santa
I suppose this depends on your level of comfortability and how much you care about the environment, but go with some organic tampons or bamboo toothbrushes! These can be super cute aesthetically and also help to make the world a better place to exist in. If you’re tired of fuzzy socks and Target holiday mugs, go for a more original approach with paying attention to their favorite nail colors or what kind of jewelry they wear – make it personal!
Parents
Parents are always the toughest for me when it comes to gifts; especially when they don’t seem to have any hobbies. Think about getting them stuff that they need. For example, if they are going to fill their car up with gas anyway, get them a Speedway gift card!
Personally, I’ll probably give my dad a downpayment for those hefty Parent Plus loans that I need to start paying in a few months.
Brother or Boyfriend
I put these in the same category because honestly boys are so hard to shop for??? At least in my experience. Depending on your budget, you could go all out and get him the airpods he’s been eyeing, or that hot new video game that just arrived in limited edition at GameStop.
A nice hoodie from his favorite brand wouldn’t hurt either.
Grandparents
If your family is anything like mine, your grandparents don’t need any more frames or trinkets. I generally have to get the most creative for this category. Think about the most outdated things they have lying around, and replace them! This could be as simple some pots and pans or even a fresh vase for the flowers they replace every week.
Sister
My sister is the pickiest person I know. With everything. You could totally go the sentimental route and make a cute collage from growing up together and frame it for her dorm room or cozy apartment. Similar to my secret santa ideas, make it personal! Even if you haven’t seen her in months, check up on her instagram to see what jewelry she’s been wearing lately, or where she’s been feeding her coffee addiction.
I hope you’ve been inspired by this little list of people that may be on your list this year, and that you take away a bit of a new perspective on gift giving. Happy shopping!
