May is quickly approaching, and for the majority of you out there, that means that the end of the school year is as well.Â
As a freshman here at Charleston, I quicklylearned that time truly does fly when you’re having fun. And to be honest, in college, it still flies even when you’re not having fun, *cough* like during finals. Nonetheless, my freshman year was absolutely one to remember, and while I’m excitedly looking forward to the year ahead, a part of me is definitely going to miss my first two semesters of college. Here’s what you need to remember as you say goodbye to your freshman year!
As corny as it sounds, the people you’ve met and the memories you’ve made cannot be erased.Â
If you’re feeling down about letting freshman year go, take a second to reminisce on what a year it was but don’t forget to get excited for the years to come.  Look back on pictures from all the good times with all the great people you’ve met and now call your friends, but remember you have many more years to make even more memories with them.
No more Gen Eds!Â
For most of you, entering your sophomore year of college means that a majority of your classes will now be geared towards your interests – and that’s exciting! You can branch out and explore new classes and you can even try a few just to try them. It’s part of the beauty of the college experience and trying new things.
Summertime is on its way.Â
I’m fortunate enough to go to school in a place that’s warm the majority of the year – I even enjoyed a few beach days this past December. Still, I look forward to going home for the summer, because that means beach days, boat ride, and lake trips in the sunny weather. Plus, if you’re going home for the summer, you’ll likely get to see your friends from home. And who doesn’t love a good laugh with old friends once in awhile?  And, don’t forget about home cooked meals that you’ve been dreaming about since Christmas.
You get to live with your friends!Â
For a lot of you, becoming an upperclassman means you get to choose who you live with (even though random roommates can make for the best of friends). I personally am pumped to move into a house with some of my best friends, and its definitely something to look forward to when you return in the fall!
Most importantly, you’ll be back!
If you love your school as much as I love mine, then you have the next three (or more years) to enjoy your time there.Â
Sure, freshman year might be over, but the adventure of your next few years awaits you!
