This summer couldn’t get here any faster. This semester has been absolutely killer and I can’t wait for summer break. All I can think about is the beach, a tan, and no classes! So with this burning desire for summer to hurry and get here, I started looking into summer fashion. In this article, we are going to go over 7 of my favorite fashion trends that will be seen this summer.
- Homespun. My personal favorite of the summer trends is everything homespun! This includes anything from embroidery, crochet, and quilting. The first time I ever saw this trend was with the Instagram businesses that include K.S. Garner (@ksgarner), Honey’s Blowtorch (@honeys.blowtorch), and Psychic Outlaw (@psychic.outlaw). These three different stores take different materials including bandanas, clothes, quilts, and others to create beautifully reworked and recycled clothing. I also just went to target and they are already on the knitwear look in their Wild Fable collection.
- Mini Skirts. The past few years everything thing has been maxi or midi in the skirt section, but minis are back! During fashion month we saw many different brands curate many styles that included mini skirts. We also see many influencers and celebs rocking the mini skirt look including Sydney Sweeney (@sydney_sweeney) and Anastasia Karanikolaou (@staskaranikolaou).
- Motorcycle Jackets. You may not know how to drive a motorcycle, but you will need a jacket that makes you look like you do. Leather biker jackets will be a great statement piece to have when a cold snap comes through. I actually purchased the most beautiful pink leather jacket that I never leave the house without!!
- Bright Colors. There is no room for neutrals this summer, so take your beige out of the closet. Many colors including tangerine, raspberry, and lime seem to be the colors we will see the most. These colors are meant to be bold and let the individual shine in such bright colors.
- Stripes. Back and better than ever, the tried and trued stripes! Strips are the one thing that will always come and go in fashion and it is back more than ever. Stripes have been seen on many runway shoes including Raf Simmons and Caroline Herrera. Many of the stripes we saw on the runway include large horizontal lines which are more flattering in my opinion.
- Skin skin skin and some more skin. Modest is not hottest coming to this summer break. We saw many sheer and short dresses on the runway during fashion month. I have also that many online stores like Pretty Little Thing have has some super cute sheer mini dresses. It’s going to be hot hot hot this summer, so might as well where less!
- Metallic. This color trend has been very popular recently in shoes and is slowly working its way in clothing. When people think metallic they instantly go to gold or silver, but it is so much more than that. Colors including blue, green, and pink are all now being seen in some type of metallic color. So if you are looking for something a little flashy and fun, look into the metallic finished pieces.
