Dear Freshman Julia,
I hope you’re doing well because college is about to be a crazy ride. You don’t know it yet, but you’re about to meet folks who are about to change your life for the better. I want to remind you not to take everything so seriously and not to sweat the details that you so often like to do. Things will work out the way they should, and you will find that everlasting bond you hoped to find in college. It may take some time to warm up, but once you get into your major classes, you will find your people, trust me. You will meet the people who will uplift and support you more than ever imagined. It might scare you if I’m being honest about how much you will love them and how much they will love you right back. Who would’ve guessed that you were actually a social butterfly when surrounded by the right people? I promise if you let it happen, you will find connections in the most unexpected places that you will hold close throughout your college career.Â
You love loudly and proudly and are no longer afraid to show it. Public speaking doesn’t scare you anymore (yay!). You are blunt and sensitive and are the first person to lift someone up after a hard day, whether it be making them a playlist or bringing them a cup of tea. You’ve grown into yourself and are so much more particular about what you want and aren’t afraid to stand up for what you think is right (you can thank your best friend for that).
I want you to enjoy your time here because it will fly faster than you think and you will learn so much about yourself throughout the process. You will make friendships that surprise you but will help you become so much more confident and bring you so much joy along the way. You will end up right where you belong, so take a deep breath and remember to be nothing less than yourself. The right people will be drawn to the most authentic version of you if you let them see it.
Sincerely,
Senior Julia
