Meet Alex Worthy, a sophomore here at the College of Charleston. The Virginia native juggles a job as a desk assistant in Craig, the heavy workload of the honors college, and still finds spare time to spend with her friends or writing music. With her love of writing she could become the next Veronica Roth!
Major: English/Creative Writing, Communication
Hometown: Roanoke, VA
What do you like most about Charleston?
I like that there’s always something going on, whether it be an art exhibit, a concert, or the city market. There’s so much color and culture in Charleston that it’s hard to be bored in the city.
What’s it like being a desk assistant in Craig?
I absolutely love it and feel so lucky to have this job. It can be boring at times when you have nothing to do, but it’s a great chance to get homework done (and get paid for it!). I’ve also made friends with many of the residents and other desk assistants and RAs.
When you’re not working or going to class, what’s your favorite thing to do to pass the time?
I would say writing. I love to write just about anything. Mostly, I write poetry and songs. I sing and play guitar as well. I’ve been trying my hand at a little bit of fiction lately as well.
We all know Charleston is a wonderful place, but is there anything you miss from home that you wish Charleston had to offer?
I really wish Charleston was in the mountains instead of on the coast. Of course, this would change many things about the city realistically. However, if I lived in an ideal world, I would do a Patrick Star and take Charleston and push it into the mountains.
Three words to describe you?
Creative, Adventurous, Bright
