My entire life I have been a summer girl. The smell of sunscreen, the wind at the beach, the salt in your hair, your slightly burnt skin from being in the sun, and the biggest reason of all there’s no school. This year I decided that I was going to embrace the fall culture and I am actually enjoying it. Here are some things that I have learned to enjoy from the fall season.
1. Fall outfitsÂ
I have a very specific pet peeve of it being cold outside and boiling hot in shops, restaurants, classrooms, ect. My body temperature does not like to fluctuate that fast. I have solved this problem by learning the art of layering. Jeans and a long sleeve shirt while in class and when you go outside add a sweater and a hat. Boom. It’s that easy.Â
2. Fall food
I have a hatred of casseroles. There is no reason for there to be a crust on top of your meal. Fall to me means casseroles and crock pot recipes. Now that I don’t live at home I never have to eat a casserole again and can focus on different fall dishes. Such as fall vegetables which are delicious! I am also learning to enjoy the classic fall flavors of apples and pumpkins. Apples never seemed exciting to be until apple pie and apple donuts came to my attention and now I can not get enough.Â
3. Football Season
Football Season never appealed to me because I never got to watch what I wanted to due to a game happening. I finally went to a college football game last year and understood the appeal of football. It’s not the game, it’s tailgating. Sitting outside the stadium for seven hours eating amazing food and day drinking is amazing. Football season is also an amazing distraction for your significant other so you can actually get work done.Â
4. HalloweenÂ
Halloween was never celebrated at my house because my christian mother has a very real fear of ghosts, vampires, and monsters. Therefore we did not decorate, watch scary movies, or dress up as anything scary. I have been informed of the excitement of decorating for halloween and planning your costumes 5 months in advance.
