I love music. And recently, I have become infatuated with a few new songs, albums, and artists. Here are a few I would recommend checking out.

Charlie Puth

Charlie Puth. That’s it. That’s the tweet. I do not know why, but this man has captivated my attention in the last few weeks, and I am perfectly fine with it. The fact that he produces and writes his own music is insane to me, and he’s humble about it. He said in an interview that he’s never really happy with his music, despite all the attention he’s gotten. Also, his TikTok is absolutely incredible. All I’m saying is I’m “One Call Away.  “Girlfriend” is so good, as well as “Hard on Yourself” which features Blackbear; to be completely honest, it’s the everything for me.

Julie and the Phantoms

I originally watched this TV show thinking, oh it’s PG; it’ll be like a show to leave on in the background. Well. The show is impeccable, and the music is too. I have listened to the soundtrack way too many times, and I am still listening. The songs are so catchy, which lines up with other shows and movies directed by Kenny Ortega. They will make you laugh, dance, cry. “Unsaid Emily” is probably my favorite, followed by “Flying Solo“.

“Wonder” by Shawn Mendes

Shawn Mendes did not have to go this hard on his new single “Wonder“. The orchestral feeling and the incredible builds within the song are so captivating. The intro to the song is also so beautiful and well-made.

Wallows

Yes, I have talked about this band before. But, they released a new EP called “Remote“! Their new releases have a different sound than their other music. The mix of heavy electronic instruments and effects on top of their classic sound brings the group to a whole different side of alternative music. My personal favorites off of this EP are “Coastlines” and “Wish Me Luck“.

“Heartbreak Hotel (Reimagined)” by Kayshawn

This song has been playing in my head since it was released in September. Kayshawn, a CofC student, is such a talented artist, and I am so lucky to know him. His other songs, such as two of my other favorites, “Save Your Love” or “Sleeping on My Own“, are so incredible. His transcendent voice combined with the sound of “Heartbreak Hotel (Reimagined)” makes you feel like you’re floating. Go check his stuff out!

“Fake” by Conan Gray and Lauv

As one of my favorite artists, Conan Gray did not disappoint on his feature with Lauv on “Fake“. The song is so catchy and the lyrics are so relatable: the type of lyrics one would scream at the top of their lungs in the car. This song makes me want to listen to Lauv more because I really love the whole vibe.
