It’s November. There are only a few weeks remaining in this semester. Just a handful of classes remaining until the holiday season is in full swing. Does anyone else have a countdown on their phone until they get to feast on all the wonderful Thanksgiving dishes and start decking the halls with boughs of holly? However, before you start pulling out your turkey pants and stringing popcorn, don’t forget about the time not so affectionately nicknamed Hell Week. As we all push through this final period of the semester, here are some great quotes to keep in mind to keep you going and encouraged through the next few weeks and life in general.
“Don’t let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.” – John Wooden
Don’t assume just because you are struggling with one thing or because you maybe did not so well on an assignment, that you are going to do poorly on everything. Understand that everyone has weaknesses. Use campus resources! But above all, just keep trying. Find what you are good at, find how you study best, focus on the areas you are thriving in (academic, social, work, art, anything!).Â
“Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today”  – Malcom X
You might be feeling like all this school stuff is pointless. You may be in classes that have absolutely nothing to do with your major or your career goals. You might be feeling burned out. It’s okay. I get it. Keep going, keep trying, heck I’m going to be cheesy and clichĂ©Â and say KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!! You will get through this and even if it seems pointless now, give it a little bit, you will realize you got something out of it. Even if you can’t see it now. You are ultimately working towards something big.Â
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.” -Steve Jobs
I’m sure you have been told this a thousand times, but seriously, stop comparing yourself to those around you. It’s a lesson I still am trying to learn myself, and yeah I know, it is hard. Â But focus on you! Don’t think that your value is any less because you have a lower grade than someone else, or if you are less involved than them, or even if you aren’t slammed with classes and taking 18 credit hours. YOU DO YOU, BOOÂ BOO.Â
“You can’t have a better tomorrow if you’re still thinking about yesterday.” – Charles F. Kettering
Every time the clock strikes midnight, it is a new day. Want to start waking up with the sun? Do it. Want to change your style? Do it. Want to start eating healthier? DO IT. Stop making excuses. Stop saying “tomorrow.” It doesn’t matter what habits you have or what you did yesterday, you have the absolute power to change that. Don’t think just because you have done something every day for your entire life that that has to be how it is forever. Take each new day just like that, like a NEW day. A new opportunity to do something you have been wanting to do. To quote Kylie Jenner, rise and shine. Take those chances, change what you want to change, always be your best you.Â
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones that you did do. So, throw off the bowlines. Sail away from safe harbor. Catch the winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” -Mark Twain
This quote pretty much speaks for itself… but I will say with finals approaching, don’t stay cramped up in your room or in a study spot all the time. Know your limits, don’t over study, and try to still have fun even when you are working your hardest!
“It always seems impossible until it’s done.” – Nelson Mandela
No matter how hard or impossible some assignment seems right now, I can guarantee you it is not going to take your last breath. You will get through it, you will get it done, and you will rock it. There have been so many assignments I have had that I swore up and down I absolutely could not do, and thankfully I have awesome parents who told me to essentially hush and just do it, and clearly you can see I have survived through all of them to write this article. You got this! You are going to get it done, and look back, and be so so so grateful you put in that effort!Â
