On November 10, Starbucks welcomed in the holidays with 13 new red cup designs for the holiday season.  The new designs were created by customers, and feature a variety of holiday designs, from snowflakes, to reindeer, to candy canes under the theme “Let there be bright.”
The cups are decorated with winning designs from last year’s #RedCupContest.  The #RedCupContest had over 1,200 submissions from over 13 countries.  The final 13 cup designs represented six countries and multiple art mediums, like paint, ink, and pencil.
Sharon Rothstein, Starbucks’s global chief marketing officer said in a press release,“We hope that this year’s red holiday cup designs express the shared spirit of the holidays as told by our customers.”

The cup’s decorations offer a big change from last year’s plain red cups, much to their customer’s delight.  Starbucks even designed its first holiday cold cup since debuting the tradition in 1997, which features a wreath around the Starbucks logo. Â
“We loved how the red cups with white designs naturally created a collection,” said Dena Blevins, creative director at Starbucks Global Creative Studio. “They hang together as one idea, but each expression is unique.”
These designs will be served in over 25,000 Starbucks locations in over 75 different countries.  “People will be walking around the street in Shanghai, New York and London carrying these cups,” Blevins said. “We love that this year our customers’ artistry can play a part in brightening someone’s day.”
The cups express the shared spirit of the holidays, allowing Starbucks customers around the world to enjoy their coffee in festive cups. Â They’re also the perfect addition to any of Starbucks’s holiday beverages like a spiced sweet cream cold brew or eggnog frappuccino. Â
