Have you ever seen someone that just seems to radiate? Achieving that sense of “glow” comes from both the inside and outside, here are 7 tips to get that same feeling!

Water, water and did I mention water?

Yes, I know! I can see you rolling your eyes through the screen… I am just as guilty! I never drink enough water, but I am here to say that it is one of the BEST things that you can do for your skin. According to Mana Hydration, drinking water can help improve your complexion, reduce puffiness, make your pores smaller and clear acne… just to name a few!

It’s called “beauty sleep” for a reason

How many times have you stayed up late, working, partying, studying… just to get up early the next day, groggy, roll out of bed and head to class? While it may seem worth it in the moment to keep pushing through the late night hours, I promise you that getting more sleep is much more worth it. According to Everyday Health, not getting enough sleep can accelerate aging processes, worsen skin conditions and even contribute to weight gain. Additionally, according to Very Well Health, getting more sleep lowers your stress, improves your memory and alertness, and “helps your body repair itself”… talk about a good GLOW!

“Hang up and hang out”

Oh goodness, I know it’s a tough one! In today’s world, we are all glued to the glowing, hand held objects that we call our smartphones. With endless information and entertainment at our fingertips, it is quite a challenge to take a break sometimes. However, in a study done by Kent State University, “frequent use of a mobile phone reduces happiness in students. The study suggests that frequent users tended to have higher anxiety and lower satisfaction with life, relative to peers, who use their phones less often”. It also can lead to greater stress and can “damage your sleep quality” (Not beloved beauty sleep!!). Why rely on the radiation from your screen, when you can just radiate yourself? Try to put your phone down more often and see what happens!

Put some pep in your step!

So far, I have been relying on research to back me up, but this one is coming to ya from the heart! Do you remember all of the years when you would plan out what you were going to wear for the first day of school? Why did you do it? I for one, wanted that extra scoop of confidence that came along with feeling good about what I was wearing. Now, I am certainly not saying that you need to be runway ready every time that you step outside the door… but for the days that you need that little “something else” to feel good about the day, I suggest putting on the outfit that makes you feel good!

Get your zen on

I know that mediation almost seems “trendy” right now, and I could agree with you, but I have to say that it is for GOOD REASON. This is something that I am personally trying to incorporate more into my weekly routine (eventually daily). According to Daily Health, mediation controls anxiety, enhances your self awareness, lengthens attention span, can GENERATE KINDNESS (everyone could use a little more of that), and improves sleep (have I emphasized the importance of sleep enough yet?).

You are what you eat!

I know that this one seems obvious, but what you eat has a huge impact on your physical and mental wellbeing. While the physical aspects may be more apparent, there is such a great impact on your emotions as well. Harvard health says, “Since about 95% of your serotonin is produced in your gastrointestinal tract, and your gastrointestinal tract is lined with a hundred million nerve cells, or neurons, it makes sense that the inner workings of your digestive system don’t just help you digest food, but also guide your emotions.” Not only will you feel the glow from the physical impacts of eating good food, but you will feel the glow from the mental aspects as well!

SMILE!!

To conclude this article, I will share with you the easiest possible thing you could do to radiate. Show your pearly whites! There is nothing that makes a girl glow like a big smile on her face.

“Your smile looks beautiful on you, you should wear it more often.”
