If your childhood was like mine and was filled with Disney Channel Original Movies, you’ve probably watched “The Princess Diaries.” You probably loved the movie (and its sequel), and you probably wished you could visit Genovia or be like Mia and find out that you’re secretly a princess.
If that’s you, you’ve probably heard the rumors that there’s going to be another addition to the series, “The Princess Diaries 3.” The director, Garry Marshall, and Mia herself, Anne Hathaway, have said they’re on board with this idea, but there hasn’t been any word if Julie Andrews or anyone else from the cast would be involved.
Personally, I have mixed feelings about the possibility of a third “Princess Diaries” movie. Ideally, it would be great, and would bring back a lot of childhood nostalgia. It would be great to catch up on what Mia and the crew have been doing since her “royal engagement.”
However, with no plot discussion and no confirmation of any other cast members, I’m a bit skeptical. Given that Mia is the queen herself now, what’s Genovia without Clarisse? And with DCOMs being on their decline as of late, there’s no saying how this potential movie would compare to the original.
Until anything else is confirmed or discussed, it might be best to just satisfy the nostalgia by having a back-to-back viewing session of the originals, possibly at a really cool slumber party like Mia has in the sequel.
Confirm you’re bringing back Lilly, Lord Nicholas, and everyone’s favorite couple, Clarisse and Joe, and then sign me up.
