2015 was a year for great new music. Here are five albums that came out this year that everyone must give a listen to before the year comes to a close.
Troye Sivan – Blue Neighborhood
Troye Sivan first successfully took on the world with his popular YouTube channel, which to date has over 3 million subscribers. This year, the 20-year-old YouTube star released his debut album, Blue Neighborhood, a dreamy electro-pop album that truly carries you away with songs about finding love and dealing with the uncertainties of growing up. The album has upbeat songs such as “Wild” and “Youth”, which both inspire the need for youthful adventure, as well as songs like “Lost Boy” and “The Quiet” that hit listeners with a raw and honest stream of lyrics reflecting a loving yet struggling relationship with a suburban upbringing, accompanied by lovely laid-back pop tunes. The deluxe edition is a must have! Â
Coldplay – A Head Full of Dreams
Coldplay has been making music for over ten years now, and their seventh studio album A Head Full of Dreams, is an equally uplifting and relaxing collection of songs that are very much reflective of the title. This album does a little bit of everything. It makes you want to dance, it makes you reflect, and it inspires, all using the signature Coldplay touch of creating a sound that makes even the smallest things sound powerful. The songs that stand out in this album are “Adventure of a Lifetime” ( the continuous guitar riff alone is amazing), “Everglow” and “Up&Up”. This album is quite different than their past albums, which makes it worth giving it a chance.
ADELE – 25
Unless you’ve been steadily living under a rock the past month, then you’ve probably heard “Hello”, Adele’s new hit song from her highly anticipated album 25, all over the radio and streaming services. Though most people are familiar with the one song, the entire album really is remarkable. There’s no other way to put it, Adele has managed to hit everyone right in the feels, even inspiring some to say she makes them feel feelings they never thought they could experience. The album is, in a single word, powerful, with songs like “Send My Love To Your New Lover”, “When We Were Young” and “A Million Years Ago”, Adele slays listeners with her amazing ability to invoke emotion.
The Weeknd – The Beauty Behind The Madness
The Weeknd’s latest album is topping the charts with hits like “The Hills” and “Can’t Feel My Face”, but the album as a whole is worth listening to. The album is a roller coaster of emotions; love, lust, darkness, you name it, it’s there. The album also features collaborations with both Ed Sheeran and Lana Del Rey in “Dark Times” and “Prisoner”, making it even more worth your time. Â
Purity Ring – Another Eternity
The idea that Megan James and Corin Roddick could follow up their 2012 debut album, Shrines, with something better seemed impossible, but they did it. Another Eternity is magical, staying true to their indie, dream pop, sounds, the Canadian duo triumph with “stranger than earth”  and  “push pull” alone. The album is a dreamy collection of simple concepts made lovely, and definitely won’t let you down. Â
