While swimming in the depths of Atlantica or searching for lost treasure in Agrabah seem like an adventure that is many miles away, it can simply be found in the little things that the season of summer brings. From the soft sands of Malibu to the loud laughter that crowds Santa Monica.
Summer is approaching quicker than ever and these are just a couple things you can do to get ready for the summer season to find your lost treasure.
1. Have A Sleepover
Get together with some close friends and have a fun sleepover where you binge watch your favorite shows or watch some new movies. Some of my recent binge-worthy shows include Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix and This Is Us on Hulu. But I have also recently loved The Big Family Cooking Showdown on Netflix as well. Get some tasty snacks and sweet treats that will have your stomach asking for more. If you want to make it more fun, build an Instagram worthy fort with some fairy lights, throw pillows, and some blankets. Sleepovers are meant to be fun and enjoyable, so have as many as you can! 2. Go to the Beach or Pool
While this may seem very self-explanatory, and it pretty much is, there is still so much you can do at the beach or the pool. We are never too young to build a sand castle that looks like Atlantis or swim with our flamingo pink floaties in the pool. You can always have a fun picnic at the beach with friends or go on a romantic walk with your significant other or by yourself, either is completely fine. However, if you wanna just work on your tan by the poolside then go for it!
3. Make a Batch of Cookies and Brownies
Cookies are not only a seasonal item, but it is also a necessity for every season or every day if you can. You can get some friends together to bake some cookies and share them with an extra cold glass of milk. Or if you’re not up for making the cookies, buy some Oreo’s and make them into a delectable milkshake that all of your friends will enjoy.
4. Attend A Fourth of July Parade
Fourth of July is one of my favorite times during summer. From the smell of coal burning to the fireworks that light up the night sky, it’s absolutely divine. Fourth of July Parades are a great way to get outside and get some of that Vitamin D. They are also a great time to spend with family and friends whether it be attending the parade, having a barbeque, or maybe just going out to a family favorite restaurant and enjoying some good food. Fourth of July is a way to get outside of the house and enjoy the day without having to do much of anything, it’s a time to relax and enjoy the company of others.

5. Make Some Time For Yourself
Making time for yourself is a crucial part of the summer. We spend so much time around other people and caring for their needs without taking the time that we need to care for ourselves. This may sound hard for some (it is for me) but it can definitely be done! Take some time to put on a face mask and relish in your thoughts and think of all your aspirations you want to accomplish. Or write down how you are feeling and spend some time detailing what you have felt the past week or month. Get some rest and don’t be afraid to take mid-day nap for a couple of hours because most of us are getting less than six hours of sleep, so a couple of hours won’t hurt you. And go look in the mirror and tell yourself how beautiful you are and how much you love yourself.
6. Get Some Exercise
Exercise may seem like such a hassle during the summer but it doesn’t have to be; get a workout buddy and find time to exercise and catch up with them. Exercise does not have to be a chore, it can be anything from doing yoga with goats to getting a 30-minute walk in during the day to relieve your muscles that are used to being seated all day long. Other ways can be a bike ride to your favorite place instead of driving there. Simple solutions such as can be beneficial not just in increasing life expectancy but increasing the way you feel throughout the day as well. Exercise increases the endorphins in your brain, leaving you feeling happier, less stressed, and it leads to a good night’s rest as well. This can make the summer a whole lot better for you and the people around you too.
7. Go to a Farmers Market
Local farmers markets provide items from freshly pressed juice to vegan items such as apple honey. It’s also a great way to support your community and the agriculture businesses that live off of them. Farmers markets are also useful in providing sustainable agriculture and food that are grown organically and fresh from the source. This way people know what they are getting without any added GMOs or dyes added to their food. Fruits and vegetables are always fresh and super tasty coming from farmers markets, and they taste great in any meal whether it be sweet or savory. But if you’re not in the mood the be super healthy, the fresh kettle corn made at farmers markets are like little pieces of Heaven in your mouth, it’s that good!
8. Ask that Cute Person You Like to get some Ice Cream
Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and understand rejection happens, but you’ll never know what can happen if you don’t take a shot in the dark. Ask that cute person out and keep it casual and go for milkshakes or ice cream because ice cream is always a good idea. Have confidence and just go for it because what is the worst that can happen?
9. Go to a Concert or See Someone on Tour
Summer is the designated festival season and while you don’t have to go to Coachella, you can always attend others’ concerts such as EDC Las Vegas and get ready with some super cute festival outfits. But if you’re not in the mood for seeing someone forget their lyrics on stage then you can always attend a tour to see someone perform. For example, Sister James is currently having his Sisters Tour where he will be doing meet and greets and giving goodie bags if that is more of your thing.

10. Try Something New
Have fun with your summer and try something new. It can be going to a new bar, hookah lounge, or restaurant. It’s whatever you want. Just don’t keep yourself inside the house because while being a couch potato is fun; it is not a serious way to spend your summer. Get outside and go do something that you have never done before (keep it legal) and either do it by yourself or get some friends involved. Keep yourself trying new things because do any old thing isn’t as fun :)
hope you have fun,
