Lala Lyman is a second year student at Cal Lutheran who is a Business Administration major with an Emphasis in Finance (she’s technically junior standing!). She likes Taco Bell and working out. Her favorite animal is a hippo because she likes how intense they are and feels like they’re very underrated. She has two younger siblings who she takes to the movies, park, and shopping; they love going to the mall with her! Her favorite shows are: Friends, Pretty Little Liars, One Tree Hill, and Gilmore Girls. Lala’s usual Starbucks order: double smoked bacon cheddar and egg and a venti chocolate milk. Her Campus Cal Lutheran: What does being a Peer Advisor mean to you?
Lala Lyman: Being a resource for new students, just helping with the transition because not everyone handles it so smoothly, sometimes it’s actually really bumpy.
HCCLU: What’s your favorite part about being a PA?
LL: Having the students look up to you is a really nice feeling, it’s very empowering. Like when they ask you a question and you know the answer, it makes you feel really good when you can help them.HCCLU: What are you most looking forward to this semester?
LL: I’m taking my first finance class this semester, which is my emphasis so I kind of have to like it; so I’m looking forward to seeing if I like it or not. I only have classes Monday, Wednesday, Friday so I’ll possibly get some free time.
HCCLU: What was your favorite thing about last semester?
LL: Orientation and my two new roommates because we’ve gotten really close.HCCLU: What made you decide on your major?
LL: It was broad enough to the point where I could decide later, plus I worked in offices for the past three summers, so an office space is familiar to me. And I’m great with a computer; Excel is my jam.
HCCLU: You’re almost halfway through college, what’s the most important lesson you’ve learned?
LL: Do things that are going to benefit your future; if you’re going to take anybody’s feelings into consideration, make them your own because you have to live with yourself and your choices now.
HCCLU: Who inspires you the most in life and why?
LL: My grandma. She came here from Mexico and she raised three kids by herself; she moved to California and then Arizona with them. My grandma also raised me for four years. She’s super healthy, she’s like a health freak; she even rides her bike to work. She has her cosmetologist license, so she has her looks together.HCCLU: What do you plan to do in the future?
LL: I’d like to be a financial advisor and then eventually a financial manager and just keep moving up that way.
