Her Campus Cal Lutheran: What is your profession? What do you do?
Tracy How: I’m in higher education as an Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admission. In my role, I have the opportunity to work with students interested in Cal Lutheran. This includes providing information regarding the University to prospective students by traveling to various cities, presentations to high schools and community colleges. I interview students and review applications and scholarship essays.
HC: Do you like what you do? What’s the best part of your job?
TH: I enjoy being a resource to students in their college search process. Cal Lutheran may not be a good fit for everyone and being able to help students discover all of their options has been rewarding. I am very lucky to also be able to represent Cal Lutheran abroad – so being able to travel internationally is probably the best part of my job!
HC: So you are a CLU Alumni! Tell us, why did you choose CLU?
TH: My financial aid award was one of the deciding factors, but what sealed the deal was the personal attention I received from the very beginning. Cal Lutheran just felt “right” especially since I never had the opportunity to visit before enrolling. Â
HC: Favorite spot on campus?
TH: I’d have to say my office – because that’s where my work family is!

HC: Favorite spot off campus?
TH: That’s a tough one, since there are so many options around here.
HC: Do you have any Interests or hobbies?
TH: I enjoy hiking, and I’m a huge foodie! I’m always looking for the next food adventure with my friends.
HC: What do we not know about you yet?
TH: I’m tri-lingual, with English being my third language
HC: Do you have any interests in any recent political event or pop culture?
TH: I plead the fifth.
(HC: we understand. Too much going on in the media, it can become too controversial to tackle!)
HC: How long have you been at CLU? What do you find you like most about the environment and the people?
TH: As a professional, this is my 7th year at CLU. The friendliness of the campus is something that I think makes the University so unique. It’s not something that is forced, it just is.
HC: Is there anything different you would like the campus to have?
TH: Now that we have the new Dining Commons, wouldn’t it be great to turn the Centrum into a sports themed spot?
