The one week that all fashion lovers have anticipated is finally upon us. That’s right, Paris Fashion Week is in full motion and already exceeding our expectations. Let’s be honest, all the other fashion weeks had some great collections but they have nothing on the designers in Paris. This city is the home of the greatest fashion houses and they have produced some incredible things so far and Paris Fashion Week has barely begun! Let’s take a look into some iconic shows that have already occurred.
Rihanna’s collaboration with Puma is honestly my favorite collection that has appeared in Paris this week. In Vogue, the singer stated, “These were clothes Marie Antoinette might wear in a parallel universe, where state-of-the-art gyms and whale-boned corsets lived side by side.” Last season Rihanna gave us a harsh, gothic vibe from her collection but this season was very feminine and soft. Despite the feminine vibes, she had men walk the runway, showing that men can rock the delicate clothes she produced.
What’s a “Balmain Army” without some of the hottest names in the modeling world right now? Gigi Hadid, Jourdan Dunn, and Alessandra Ambrosio were some of the big names that flaunted Balmain’s latest collection. Desert tones were the central theme for this show but we have already seen these colors from past shows. Balmain is not my favorite fashion house but they do produce some amazing outerwear.
Christian Dior has made history this week. They introduced their first female director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, which has been long overdue, to be honest. For her debuting collection she focused on modern femininity and what it could look like. “ The message, really, is that there is not one kind of woman.” She shows us that women can wear thick fencing vests or light, flowy dresses. Whatever they want to express themselves in. I cannot wait to see what she has in store for Christian Dior.
