Sonora was born and raised in Seattle with her mother Linda. She lived their until she was sixteen and then moved to Woodinville in order to attend Woodinville High School, the best high school in the state. In her first two years there she played soccer, basketball, and ran track. However, due to her numerous concussions, she switched from sports to theatre. Her love of sports never faded as she is the Seattle Seahawk’s biggest supporter and a die-hard fan.
A jack-of-all-trades, Sonora is a singer, a dancer, an actress, and a future RA. She still manages to do extremely well in school, landing herself a spot on the Dean’s list her first semester at Cal Lutheran, and has a double major with a possible future minor in Theatre Arts. So far, her favorite class has been Multiculturalism and Race in Politics because she’s able to understand and analyze the roots of the systemic racism we face in America and and how we can change it. She feels it is essential for everyone to know before facing the real-world after college.
Sonora starred in Cal Lutheran’s production of Under Fire. She thoroughly enjoyed working with the cast, crew, and director Michael Arndt. She says “He’s an incredible director, he truly cares, and wants his cast to improve.” The storyline of the play was personally relatable to her because her stepdad was in multiple branches of the military. She loved how the play showed the audience the parallel storylines between the wars we have endured as a country. Although they had different causes and purposes, the way the wars affected the families of the soldiers were extremely similar.
In the future, Sonora hopes to be a Defense Attorney as well as a loving mother and wife. She would like to move back to Washington to attend University of Washington’s Law School, and then go into Military Law. Following that she would like to become a Defense Attorney in Washington. The ultimate ending goal is to eventually become a politician in Congress. Regarding her family life, she would like to have two kids and have them grow up in Seattle, where she calls home.
