We’re the flood of purple on the spine during involvement fair days. We’re the Chipotle girls who gave out cards for free burritos. We’re the ones with the photo booths, crafts, and tons of energy. We’re an online magazine that has developed into a both a family within and a builder of a community across the university. We’re something you don’t want to miss out on.
I became a part of Her Campus last year for the typical club-joining reasons: getting more involved, building a resume, and all those other great things. However, this is not the club where people say, “Oh, I think I’m technically in that!” simply for writing an email address on a sheet of paper along with fifty others who never showed. When you are in Her Campus, you are in, and it’s something to be proud of.Â
I find one of the greatest aspects of Her Campus, particularly as a writer, is being a part of a publication that reaches students of our university alongside people anywhere in the world who are a part of our demographic. Even so, if you’re not a writer, a lot of your efforts go toward promoting the content that people put hours into creating. You help a message be spread without bounds.
In addition (and I’m not even being biased), Her Campus is hands-down the most spirited club at Cal Lutheran. Take it from someone who runs multiple others which come nowhere near the same drive, positivity and level of friendship between members. We are so spirited we even bring spirit to other clubs’ events – how cool is that?!
With this drive and spirit comes actually getting our goals accomplished as an organization. This means, altogether, we make an impact in the community, while you, as the individual, can truly build up your resume and a portfolio of work. Her Campus has given me hands-on work, including experience with designing graphics, posting on social media, writing, editing, sending newsletters, promoting events, and much, much more. Chances are, if you have a skill or interest, we’ll have a way to put it to use!
Our team also has fun events, from banquets to bonfires at the beach or attending an awesome fashion show where our girls owned the runway. You can always count on something awesome, big or small, being in the works.
Even with all these benefits, the greatest thing one can find here is a support system. All are welcome and wanted, and we would love to have you on our team!!
