The question we all face each morning: Exactly how long are we willing to wait for coffee? We all know the notoriously long line we have to stand in to get our daily caffeine fix, so here’s a list of twelve thoughts that cross your mind when you’re waiting in that infinite line to let you know that you’re not alone in this.
1. Look at this line!
No, you’re not dreaming: The line is down to Yogurt Creations again, but…
2. I have 10 minutes till class; I can wait.
Let’s be honest, we all know we’ve either been or seen that one person coming into class late with a Starbucks cup–why not be that person today?
3. Why is everyone is on their phone?
Are they even doing anything on their phones?! Are they just pretending to scroll through their newsfeed?
4. Should I pretend to text someone too?
I don’t want to be the awkward one in the line just staring at the person’s head in front of me, I really don’t.
5. Why are we standing in such awkward silence?
I don’t even hear people in groups talking. C’mon people, please make some conversation so I can at least eavesdrop, if not join in.
6. Do I say something to the person in front of me?
Hmm.. maybe I should. Let’s weigh the options here…
7. Will they think I’m weird if I say hi and I don’t know them?
Yeah, they’d probably be all, “who does this chick think she is?” After all, they are on a mission to get coffee before their next class.
8. No, don’t do it. It’s Monday and everyone just wants to get their coffee and go.
Okay, decision made, phew, enough thinking has been put into this lack-of-social-interaction for the morning.
9. Alright, let’s decide on a drink, what should I order today?
Oh, the choices in my life. Is it a chai tea day or a latte day?
10. Something with espresso, I need to wake up.
Yes, yes to espresso, and I am making it three shots.
11. Or maybe something with whipped cream. I love whipped cream.
It’s just so fluffy and creamy and wonderful. Why, whipped creams, are you so delicious?!
12. Hey, look I’m up next and they’re giving away free samples!
#Winning. Maybe this Monday morning isn’t off to a bad start after all.
While the wait to get our coffee almost always has us running to class right at the ten-minute mark (Cal Poly time), it’s always worth it, wouldn’t you say?Â
