Many of us desire a relaxing night in with no interruptions or stress looming over our heads. Sometimes we try too hard to make it perfect and it ends up not making us feel as relaxed as we wanted to feel. Today, I’m going to be sharing some tips to help you feel your best during this fall season!
1. Set the ambiance flow
There are many different ways to set a relaxing mood in your room. You can start by lighting some scented candles (bonus if they’re apple or pumpkin scented) or turn on fairy lights if you have any. Setting candles around the room and using little lights provides a relaxing and calming glow around the room and using essential oils or room sprays that have certain scents such as lavender, chamomile, or eucalyptus can help you calm any anxiety.Â
2. begin your selfcare
To begin, your relaxing evening could start with a bath! If you rarely take baths it might feel like a reward, but if you enjoy one once a week, spice it up by using some scented salts or a different scent of bubbles and play some nice music in the back that makes you feel as if you’re in a different place. Personally I listen to Italian jazz to relax; check out my favorites here. To make yourself feel more at ease, do some skincare! Try a new facemask or even make one yourself, using recipes all over Tik Tok, Instagram and Youtube. You could also paint your nails, braid your hair, mediate, or even take a nap. Do whatever you know works best for your body and mind.Â
3. Sweet Treat time!
We all love a good sweet treat from time to time (or all the time) so don’t be afraid to try a new one! Something I want to try are definitely the Target holiday cookies and the Trader Joe’s teeny tiny pretzels. If you want to make something from scratch like Nara Smith, try making caramelized popcorn, bake Crumbl fall cookies from scratch or make some yummy pumpkin flavored cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. Say you want to grab something on campus, try the Chocolate Cake or Tiramisu from the Sweet Bar at VG’s! No matter what you’re craving, let yourself relax and enjoy your night.
4. Settle in for the night
This is the part where you really get to lay back and enjoy all of the hard work you just put into taking care of yourself. Lay back and play your comfort show or movie; personally, I like to watch Friends reruns, The Good Place, Bridgerton, Molly’s Game or any Audrey Hepbrun Movie! (bonus points if it’s a fall movie such as Twitches, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Halloweentown, Scream or any favorite Halloween movie of yours!) If you don’t feel like indulging in too much screen-time, pick a favorite hobby of yours. It could be reading a novel–or writing one– crocheting, painting –maybe even paint pumpkins– go online shopping, or lay down and listen to some music. Once you feel that you’re getting too tired, you can call it a night and rest your eyes after working a long day. No matter how it went, be proud of yourself for making it through another day!
