13% of American women will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer and on average every two minutes an American woman is told she has cancer. While we see the words “Breast Cancer Awareness” plastered everywhere during October, it’s important to remember how serious and life threatening it is… and that all genders can be affected by this cancer. Maybe you’ve had a family member or a friend who has been impacted by Breast Cancer, but even if you haven’t, you know how serious cancer is. That’s why in October, companies and people put up signs for Breast Cancer Awareness—because it is important to honor the survivors and those who have devastatingly lost their lives because of Breast Cancer. While donating to different charities, such as The Pink Fund, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), and the National Breast Cancer Foundation(NBCF), and Susan G. Komen, is a wonderful gesture towards supporting survivors and research, some companies donate part of the money you spend on their items towards different foundations. Here is a list of five brands that support Breast Cancer Awareness—and if you’re shopping for any of these items, then you could help support Breast Cancer research too!

1. Splendid: This company sells the softest shirts, sweatshirts, and sleep wear you’ll ever own! While they are a bit pricey, the quality is superb and will last a long time (if we “girl math” it out, the PJs basically pay for themselves). During the month of October, Spendid announced that 50% of the money made on their cute “Lolly Hearts Sweater” will be donated to the NBCF supporting women in early detection of cancer and other support services. This sweater is adorable—it is white and covered in small pink or red hearts (depending on your style). Even though it is comfortable and soft, there is a certain understated elegance to it. If you’re in need of a sweater covered in hearts—a great birthday, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or Valentines Day gift—then this company has you covered and you’d be supporting people all across the country.

2. Tifosi Optics: Everybody loves sunglasses, no? Protecting our eyes is important for our health and our older selves will thank us. Tifosi Optics is a high quality brand that makes sunglasses for every occasion—from cute beach trips all the way to high intensity sports like cycling, softball, and tennis. They even make some for fishing! Right now they have a limited edition of pink sunglasses with multiple types of frames that can be made for prescription glasses. Not only are they cute and cheap (the highest price being $35), but 100% of the profits made off of these sunglasses will go to the Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation. So not only would your drip game improve, but it’d improve while supporting a great cause!

3. CAKES Body: This company is what inspired me to write about brands supporting Breast Cancer Awareness month. I watched a video where they talked about why, how, and who can wear CAKES nipple covers and the spokesperson mentioned how their covers are also made for women with mastectomies. I realized we as a society don’t talk enough about the emotional pain that comes with your body changing due to an illness. This video’s representation of women who’ve had their breast tissue removed truly reminded me how important it is to acknowledge that every body is beautiful. With that said, this brand has partnered with BCRF to donate $1 with every purchase made. If you’re looking for “grippy, not sticky” nipple covers that you can comfortably wear all day that ALSO support Breast Cancer research—then look no further. CAKES has you covered (pun intended).

4. Estēe Lauder Companies: It is no secret that Estēe Lauder Companies have been a large supporter of the BCRF and other Breast Cancer research for over 30 years. In fact, they have funded $131 million in worldwide Breast Cancer research, education, and medical services. If you’re in need to new mascara, then Too Faced, a high quality brand, will support your eyelash needs (while donating $30,000 to the BCRF because of your purchase with the brand), ORIGIN’s creamy Peace of Mind Moisturizing Hand Cream will soften your hands and support research (by donating $25,000 to the BCRF), AERIN’s Honeysuckle and Amber Musk BCRF Purse Spray Duo will make you smell irresistible (while also donating 50% of profits made off of this to the BCRF), and there are more companies that will do the same! So many of these self care products can improve your mood and help save others too!

5. LetterPress Play: Maybe you’re not really into makeup, clothes, or accessorizing, instead try LetterPress Play! This brand sells paper toys, aesthetic cards, and notebooks. In fact, they’re selling pink journals, notepads, pens, napkins, and pins to support Breast Cancer Awareness. With that, 50% of the profit will go to the Breast Cancer Resource Center of Texas. So, if you’re looking for something to take notes with or want to keep a diary, LetterPress Play sells just the supplies, while also helping Breast Cancer survivors.

While this is a difficult topic for many people to talk about, Breast Cancer Awareness is necessary and important. Life is hard enough, but adding a deadly disease on top of it can feel impossible. When supporting these companies, you’re also supporting people all across the country and globe who are currently going through something unimaginable. While these women (and men!) are incredibly strong, supporting research to find a cure and supporting survivors either through medical services or education is crucial. It takes a village to fight cancer, so let’s get together and kick Breast Cancer’s A**!
